Data Analyst II – Maternal and Child Health – Health

Pay: $50,610.04 annually.

Work Schedule: 8 AM – 5 PM Monday – Friday May work more than 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends

The Data Analyst-Maternal and Child Health Data is supports the Sedgwick County Health Department (SCHD) and its mission by guiding efforts to improve the health of Sedgwick County residents and improve the quality of work at SCHD. This position collects and manages maternal and child health (MCH)-related data; analyzes data for distribution; and conducts program evaluations and trainings for SCHD. This position collaborates with internal and external partners often. Employee will provide support during public health emergencies (Activation Level 1).

Collect and manage data, with a focus on maternal and child health data

  • Collect and organize maternal and child health data, including Fetal Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) and the community referral platform IRIS
  • Perform accurate data entry and self-audits
  • Develop and manage surveys and other data collection tools
  • Build partnerships with external partners
  • Ensure data and reports are reviewed and accurate prior to submission

Analyze data and prepare information for distribution

  • Perform independent descriptive and advanced data analysis using statistical software
  • Create and interpret graphs and other visualizations
  • Develop and maintain standard and ad hoc reports for SCHD program managers, leadership, partners, and the public
  • Monitor the IRIS system and produce internal and external effectiveness reports
  • Plan and implement projects and interventions related to maternal and child health data
  • Create and communicate maternal and child health messaging and the work of SCHD to medical professionals, community partners, and the public by giving presentations and writing educational documents

Perform Program Evaluations

  • Perform program evaluations, including developing evaluation materials; creating data collection procedures and processes; and assessing SCHD CFH program implementation, processes, effectiveness, impacts, and outcomes per grant requirements
  • Conduct focus groups
  • Serve as subject matter expert for SCHD data analysis, including driving to SCHD location to provide technical assistance in person
  • Create, teach, and evaluate data-related public health competency workshops

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in public health, data analytics, information technology or related field with at least one year of data analysis coursework. Three years of school or work experience in data analytics, data analysis, or data management. One year of school or work experience conducting program evaluations. One year of school or work research experience including developing surveys, or writing research reports, publications, or other relevant outputs. Three years of school or work experience with Microsoft Suite applications, including Excel or similar systems. Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. Must complete Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) IS 100 and 700 courses within 30 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public health, data analytics, or related field with data analysis and data management coursework. Coursework in maternal and child health, research methodology, and/or program evaluation. Four years of school or work experience with the following: maternal and child health data collection, management and analysis; experience with SAS, SPSS, or other database software; community-based participatory research; program evaluation and survey development; and/or peer-reviewed journal publications. Two years of work experience in a healthcare clinic, hospital, or state or local health department.
