ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The mission of RiseBoro Community Coalition is to reduce the use of e-cigarettes, alcohol, marijuana, and other substances among youth in New York City. The Coalition plans to accomplish this by building and sustaining a safe and drug-free community where youth feel protected, confident, and empowered to make healthy choices. The goal is to transform the environment around the youth to ensure their mental health needs are supported and that choosing to be drug-free is easy. Under the general supervision of the Director of Clinical Services, the Data Analyst will work closely with Program Directors and direct service staff of the RiseBoro Education Division to support this initiative. The Data Analyst will play a key role in quality improvement efforts by using data gathered to evaluate best practices, assess program operations, and develop metrics for success to increase the quality of service delivery and service impact. The Data Analysts technical expertise will ensure the quality and accuracy of gathered data, then they will process, design, and present the data clearly for decision-making. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Oversee prevention needs assessment, conduct assessments (focus groups/key informant interviews/archival data), data collection (qualitative & quantitative), and outcomes evaluation; including surveys and archival data used to assess changes in consumption, consequence, and risk & protective factors
  • Assess program needs, data collection, and outcomes evaluation including surveys, archival data, focus groups, and key informant interviews used to assess risk and protective factors
  • Create and maintain the Data Map for all programs
  • Develop data collection training guides for staff members at each program site
  • Design and develop data visualizations and dashboards from gathered program data using reporting tools i.e., Tableau, Google Data Studio, etc.
  • Train program staff on data entry requirements and procedures, data collection and the dissemination of surveys, etc.
  • Create and run data validation reports to identify missing or invalid program data
  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure timely and accurate data entry; capture and correct data discrepancies
  • Ensure that all evaluative activities are culturally sensitive and will aim to bridge any age, gender, cultural, racial, or institutional barriers using appropriate communications and methodologies
  • Collaborate with Program Directors to develop surveys, focus group questions, and interview protocols
  • Partner with Program Directors in developing theories of change, logic models, and impact measurement for each program
  • Collect, review, analyze, and store structured and unstructured data received from all programs
  • Create and modify reports to analyze program performance
  • Report program outcomes to stakeholders, as needed
  • Manage program files for review
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Director

COMPETENCIES

  • Comprehensive understanding of data system administration, data collection, and monitoring; data analysis and reporting; data development and inquiry support; data visualization skills required
  • Experience working with and supporting inquiries on Real-World Data and/or creating related reports
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills: effective for report-writing, data presentation to funders, and staff training virtually and in-person
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet contractual deadlines
  • Ability to think critically, problem solve and use sound judgment
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in stressful situations and sustain full confidentiality
  • Proficient in the evaluation of environmental strategies and measuring the processes and outcomes associated
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Excel, PowerPoint, or their Google Suite equivalents; the analytical function in Excel required
  • Profound knowledge of Stata, SPSS, SAS, R, Python, and Atlas.ti, NVivo preferred
  • Knowledge of Statistical Analysis i.e., Hypothesis and A/B testing
  • Experience with Unstructured Data Analytics i.e., ability to offer solutions to give structure to unstructured data for it to be properly processed and analyzed preferred
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible with changing priorities
  • Ability and comfort working with diverse populations in various environments

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in a quantitative field (data analytics, business analytics, data science, statistics, or data management and 1-3 years of related work experience required
  • Masters Degree or self-study/certificates in analytics, data science, digital media/marketing, or equivalent related work experience a plus
