Dansville CSD is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the following position:
Position Work Hours
Laborer
9:00am – 5:00pm (Tue – Fri)
6:00am – 2:00pm (Sat)

10:00am – 6:00pm (Tue – Fri)
6:00am – 2:00pm (Sat)
Performs routine replacement/repair in all trades, remodeling, maintenance, preventative maintenance, grounds, cleaning, etc. The laborer will also assist other staff in skilled trades as needed. This is routine manual work requiring physical endurance and a willingness to perform arduous tasks. Laborers usually work under continuing supervision or their activities are subject to frequent inspection. Does related work as required. Will be required to work outside of normal working hours for snow removal and other maintenance emergencies/duties.
Typical Work Activities:
- Operates power-driven tools and equipment such as saws, compressors, drills, mixers, pumps, mowers, string trimmers, etc.;
- Performs general cleanup work such as removing debris, raking leaves, cutting grass, and weeds, shoveling snow, and assisting in the collection of rubbish and litter from public lands and facilities;
- Assists in the maintenance or construction of roads, streets, utility, and drainage systems by digging and backfilling trenches, spreading asphalt, sand, and gravel;
- Assists in the preparation, laying out, and maintenance of athletic fields and areas designed for beautification by clearing, grading, reseeding, weeding, and lining;
- Loads and unloads trucks and stacks materials and supplies;
- Assists in erecting or assembling snow fences, barricades, picnic tables, and recreation equipment;
- Completes work orders as assigned in a safe and efficient manner;
- Uses a combination of hand tools, powered tools, motorized equipment, etc. to complete job duties as needed;
- Performs grounds maintenance as needed (weeding, mowing, clean up, flower beds, trimming, asphalt repair, drainage repairs, soft and hardscape, snow removal, ice control, etc.;
- Performs preventative maintenance of equipment (HVAC, Pool, doors, grounds, etc.) and reports issues as needed;
- Performs semi-skilled maintenance tasks in all trades (Light plumbing, keys and locks, carpentry, etc.);
- Assists other tradesmen in skilled trades maintenance as needed;
- Performs/Assists with cleaning activities and event set up as needed;
- Operates trucks and equipment;
- Performs rounds in school areas to check for normal operation of equipment and report issues as needed;
- Performs other related duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Willingness to perform routine manual tasks; ability to lift heavy weights; ability to follow simple oral or written instructions; ability to perform heavy manual labor including lifting and bending; willingness to work under all weather conditions; physical endurance; sobriety; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Experience in heavy manual labor is desirable. Applicants must possess a valid Class D New York State driver’s license at the time of application and appointment. Must maintain such licensure throughout employment. Provide your own basic hand tools required to complete standard tasks.
Salary/ Pay Scale:
$16.20 -$18.00 per hour
