Job Description

Under general supervision, responsible for performing duties related to the operations of the Parks & Recreation front desk functions at the Aquatic Center. Provides customer service to patrons in person, by phone and email; answers questions and assists with registration and facility reservations.

This position is an intermittent position which may include early mornings, days, evenings and weekends for an estimated 10-20 hours per week.
Duties/Responsibilities
The following tasks are typical for positions in this classification. Any single position may not perform all of these tasks and/or may perform similar related tasks not listed here.

  1. Perform routine administrative duties including answering phones, typing, filing, inventory and copying.
  2. Greet and assist customers when entering the Aquatic Center.
  3. Process customer registrations, collect admissions, rental, and program fees utilizing cash register, computer and supporting software applications.
  4. Open and close cash register and prepare fee collections for daily deposit according to City guidelines.
  5. Respond to questions and inquiries regarding rules, regulations, use of park facilities and various City recreation services and programs.
  6. Resolve or direct inquiries and complaints to appropriate staff members.
  7. Participate in maintaining facility for cleanliness, perform light general maintenance and/or custodial duties and report maintenance issues as needed.
  8. Attend staff meetings and trainings as necessary.
  9. Contribute to a positive work environment.
  10. Maintain regular, predictable attendance and punctuality.
  11. Perform other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the classification.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINESAny combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

ExperienceOne year of customer service experience is desirable.

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

License or Certificate
Possession of an appropriate, valid CPR certification within 6 months of beginning employment.
Possession of an appropriate, valid first aid certification within 6 months of beginning employment.

Environment: Incumbents work in a normal office setting with exposure to computer screens and occasional elevated sound. Incumbents in this position have extensive interactions with the general public and may occasionally deal with distraught or difficult people.

Mobility: Incumbents require sufficient mobility to work in an office setting and operate office equipment; to walk, stand or sit for prolonged periods of time. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate office equipment.

Vision, Hearing and Communication: Vision sufficient to read small printed documents, computer screens and other documents. Hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person and over the telephone.
