We are seeking a highly motivated, team oriented, self-directed professional who will be responsible for log procurement, allocation, and delivery activities for approximately 80 MMBF of logs annually to the WY Raymond Sawmill facility. You will spend most your time managing supplier/vendor relationships, negotiating delivered log agreements, developing log cost forecasts, and managing supplier compliance with client sustainability requirements. This position will report to the WA Marketing Team Lead. It is based out of Raymond, WA and will have primarily responsibility for raw material management activities in the Raymond Sawmill procurement area of Southwest WA.
In this position, you will routinely interface with a variety of external stakeholders and internal individuals, ranging from manufacturing operations, timberland operations, finance, and information technology.
As a Raw Material Manager, you will have the opportunity to:
• Purchase non-fee volume for Weyerhaeuser’s Raymond, Washington Sawmill. Drive Operational Excellence across the system
• Optimize log volumes and costs to supply quality raw material to our processing facilities
• Ensure log contract compliance including safety, log specifications, Best Management Practices (BMP’s) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) compliance
• Compile, analyze and forecast future cost, receipts and inventory trends
• Record and analyze timber value and cost data for operational excellence
• Oversee log procurement and delivery activities
• Monitor and evaluate safety, service of suppliers and vendors
Knowledge & Skills:
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Must be highly motivated, creative and a self-directed team player; possess strong communication (written and oral) and interpersonal and analytical skills
• Solid ability and experience in business negotiations
• Computer proficiency with log accounting systems and various Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Ability to estimate, recognize and analyze log volumes and value drivers
• Understanding of Federal, State, and Private forestry regulations and procedures
• Working knowledge of Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), American Tree Farm System and State Stewardship Programs.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:
• Bachelor’s Degree – forestry, land management, business preferred: will consider strong relevant experience in lieu of degree
• 5 Years of experience in the forest products industry, preferably log procurement, sales or timberland operations.
• Current driver’s license is required as work involves driving company vehicles on rough roads (25,000 miles per year)
• Minimum of 50% of work time is spent in the field, with some time on steep or broken ground
• May include occasional weekend work

What We Offer…
Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $78k – $138k based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7-10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with paid vacation for up to 3 weeks to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 hours along with paid parental leave for all full time employees
