The Litigation Counsel will join the Ocwen Law Department, reporting to the Assistant General Counsel. As Litigation Counsel, working closely with internal clients and outside counsel, you will be responsible for supporting the company, its subsidiaries, and our investors in all litigation matters, including class actions, other complex matters, and loan-level lawsuits. As part of the Litigation team, no matter how new or junior, you will be challenged to bring new ideas to the department that help us serve our clients better. Job Functions and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Manage all aspects of litigation, including directing outside trial counsel, arising from our core business in mortgage loan servicing and origination.
- Manage and assist in the management of complex and high exposure litigation, including class actions, multidistrict proceedings, and confidential investigations.
- Coordinate responses, discovery requests, including electronic discovery.
- Oversee the operation of the company’s case management and litigation tracking systems.
- Assist with identification of the root causes of litigation and devising litigation prevention strategies.
- Handle various requests for legal advice and related assistance, including presentations to the business units on litigation and legal issues.
- Provide management reporting on litigation and reserves.
- General support of Law Department projects in litigation practice group.
- Liaison as needed with transaction and compliance practice groups.
- Attend mediations and settlement conferences and formulate early resolution strategies.
- Any other duties as assigned and required
Key Result Areas:
- Successfully manage incoming litigation matters, including mortgaging servicing and origination litigation matters.
- Successfully develop litigation reports for management and investors.
- Set objectives & key results (KPI’s) that support our Service Excellence philosophy and standards, and monitor delivery against these to increase Customer satisfaction levels,
- Promote and instill a high performing team culture, foster talent to improve and maintain retention levels, and support change management initiatives
- Allocate resources and drive accountability to direct reports to ensure achievement of results

Training / Licensing Requirements:
- Must pass the Company’s Background Screening process prior to beginning employment. Additionally, as a condition of employment, you may be required to pass client-specific background check requirements or Federal/State licensing requirements, if applicable.
The salary range for this position is expected to be $130,000 – $150,000 per year, depending on geographic location, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company’s applicable plans.
