Provide specialized legal services as directed in support of the Privacy and Information Management (“PIM”) Team. Work product is primarily for internal law department needs, but may be for specific practice group(s) to in-house constituents, such as data governance and cybersecurity.
Responsibilities
- Work on issues where analysis of legal business matters requires an evaluation of various factors and exercises judgment commensurate with experience. Review pre-existing documents and templates within assigned practice area(s).
- Assist with compliance programs regarding applicable privacy, information security and data use laws.
- Assist with legal reviews and analysis related to State and Federal privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA)), GLBA, HIPAA, FCRA, and other applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide a variety of specialized privacy and cybersecurity legal services to a number of in-house constituents, primarily within the legal and compliance department, but will work with business partners with oversight under supervision of more senior attorney with moderate discretion to make independent decisions within predefined guidelines.
- Confer with business areas as directed. Participate in departmental and cross-functional working groups as directed. Examples of work: Select from pre-approved, options in template contracts; conduct legal research for more senior attorney; review and approve certain customer correspondence; review and approve policies and procedures.
- Assist with privacy notice obligations.
- Assist with data use case reviews and privacy impact assessments.
- Develop and deliver training to various groups throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- JD from an ABA accredited law school
- Two years of legal experience
- Licensed or eligible to practice in the applicable state
- Ability to effectively communicate, both written and oral, with the intended audience
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to exercise agility and adaptability in providing legal advice
- Comfortable in a rapidly changing corporate environment
- Proficient using MS Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Some familiarity with privacy and security laws, including GLBA, FCRA, HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, NY DFS Cybersecurity rules and regulations, state data breach laws, etc.
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or comparable certifications and experience.
Working Conditions
- Office environment
The US salary for this position generally ranges between $110,000 – $140,000 annually. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.
Additionally in the US, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company’s discretion.
