General Description of Position:
Assist in ensuring that students with disabilities have access to opportunities available to all students at the college in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Assist with the coordination of retention-focused scholarship programs. Reports to the Director of Student Support Services.
Major Responsibilities:
Aid in the identification of eligible students in partnership with the Next Step Foundation.
Assist with promoting institutional scholarship opportunities to students, families, community members, and others at various colleges, public schools, and community events.
In collaboration with Financial Aid, ensure proper disbursement of scholars’ monthly living stipends.
Assist eligible students in navigating the enrollment process at Ivy Tech Terre Haute (Greencastle)
Schedule and assist with the interview process for scholarship applicants
Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners to develop and implement support services that promote success.
Identify internal and external resources that can eliminate or mitigate barriers for scholars.
Conduct appropriate follow-up, and data collection and maintain accurate records for retention-based Foundation scholarship programs
Assist with organization, planning, and implementation of programming for Recovery Scholars in concert with the College’s mission.
Aid qualified individuals with disabilities in receiving reasonable accommodations so as to have equal access to all institutional programs and services in compliance with federal regulation
Define and describe the procedures for obtaining services and accommodations; assist students in completing this process
Utilize Disability Support Services case management system for record-keeping and tracking
Conduct an initial assessment of students and ongoing accommodation requests for accommodations and evaluate documentation
Conduct all activities within the established guidelines for the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Participate in statewide DSS meetings and training; follow through with training and implement updated practices and procedures discussed at these meetings

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.. Must have strong organizational skills. Knowledge of or experience working in higher education. Must be courteous, professional, energetic, organized, and able to work positively with students, faculty, and staff. Respect for confidentiality is required. Comfortable with public speaking
