The anticipated salary range for this role is between $72,000.00 and $85,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. Role Description
The Contract Negotiation Team for Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) will work within the Legal Department. Primary responsibilities will involve assisting the attorneys across the Legal Department with the review, analysis and negotiation of certain contracts.
Role Objectives
The SMBC Legal Department is seeking to establish a Contract Negotiation Team, which will be responsible for assisting attorneys across the Legal Department with the review, analysis and negotiation of non-disclosure agreements, access letters and non-reliance letters. It is expected that the mandate of the Contract Negotiation Team will expand over time to include other types of contracts.
The Contract Negotiator will be expected to play a key roles in the Contract Negotiation Team, including (i) reviewing, analyzing and negotiating non-disclosure agreements, access letters and non-reliance letters, (ii) developing and implementing procedures to improve the review and negotiation process, and (iii) interfacing with key stakeholders across the organization, including the Contract Negotiation Team Manager, to escalate and resolve issues that arise in the context of contract negotiation.
Qualifications and Skills
- JD preferred, with any law firm or financial services experience supporting legal teams and documentation a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage a high volume of transactions with competing deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, technical drafting skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure, operate comfortably in a fast-paced, demanding environment, and manage a significant workload with minimal supervision.
- Ability to think creatively and propose solutions.
- Unquestionable ethical and professional judgment as well as the ability to work with confidential documents and information.
