Construction Manager III, Global Real Estate and Facilities

As a member of the Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) team overseeing Research and Development

(R&D) projects, the Design & Construction Project Manager will lead teams towards delivering design

and construction within the R&D environment. Our internal customers continue to expand into the

fields of aerospace, life sciences, robotics, SCIFs, quantum computing, and device labs.

This role will have oversight of projects across the Americas portfolio including expansions, retrofits,

new builds and any other unique requests within occupied space (post-occupancy projects).

The optimal candidate is an experienced, persistent professional who will excel within an

entrepreneurial, innovative culture – providing vision, leadership, and communication – but not afraid

to dive into details.

The successful candidate must be comfortable operating on both strategic and tactical levels,

simultaneously acting as a visionary, an internal ambassador, educator, analyst, solutions architect, and

implementer. Develop and deliver consistent strategies for supporting and leading project teams,

standardize planning and due diligence, design oversight, implementation and construction best

practices for all R&D innovation facilities.

Collaborate with leadership and other stakeholders to determine objectives, scope, space allocation,

cost, prioritization and sequencing of requests. Provide oversight of project management services and

manage contractor performance on major projects to ensure timely completion, compliance with cost

requirements, and other requirements and regulations.

Key job responsibilities
• Ownership of projects from inception to completion

• Be accountable for the Capital Projects Management function for R&D space, including

overall project service delivery and coordination with the other GREF stakeholders including

but not limited to Facilities, EH&S, Sustainability, Procurement, Legal, Tax, Compliance,

Finance teams at key project stages
• Meet with key stakeholders, to define project parameters and take accountability for

quality, cost and timely delivery
• Provide consistent customer focused, cross-functional communication with all project

stakeholders
• Successful at navigating change, solving problems and consulting cross-functionally with

team members
• Have Bias for Action- be able to pivot and make decisions quickly in order to ensure a timely

result
• Frugality- be a thoughtful and resourceful buyer who thinks in terms of the return on

investment and long-term savings and value

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 10+ years successful professional experience required in one or more of the following area:

construction or engineering project management, real estate development, or relevant

architecture/design experience
• Comfortable with legal terms and structures for standard commercial contracts and leases
• Experience managing multiple projects across numerous sites, and regions
• Ability to communicate complex project execution strategy and plans clearly to internal and

external stakeholders and lead diverse groups of staff and contractors
• High competency with personal computers and productivity software, high competency

with Project Management Software a plus (Clarizen)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• BA or BS degree or equivalent, OR alternative to a degree, an additional 10+years of relevant professional

experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $72,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
