Construction Management Advisor

ENGIE North America is searching for a Senior Construction Manager (CM) for an Advisor level role to be based in Washington DC. The CM will support ongoing Washington DC area work, and other projects in the Eastern Region. The CM will be a key member of the project delivery team and will primarily be responsible for on-site management of all construction activities associated with facility and infrastructure improvement projects. The successful candidate is responsible for the planning and safe, on-time, and on or under budget execution of construction within the cost, schedule, and quality constraints defined by the Project Manager. The Construction Manager will provide guidance and leadership during the construction phase and be the subcontractors’ main point of contact for construction related tasks, issues, progress etc. The Program or Project Manager retains overall responsibility for the project.

What you’ll do:

  • Prepare and execute Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance and Quality Control plans for construction projects
  • Set overall project schedule in coordination with the Project Manager
  • Opine on constructability through the review of Contractor plans, determining if special operator access or maintenance provisions are required
  • Provide field input to assist the project manager in tracking and reporting of schedule and budget performance during the construction phase
  • Support construction administration including managing Requests for Proposals (RFP), Requests for Information (RFI), Submittals, Transmittals, and Change Requests
  • Ensure project execution adheres to applicable industrial standards and regulatory codes
  • Ensure construction conforms to civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation & controls drawings and specifications
  • Coordinate with Project Engineer(s) for technical consult and QA/QC inspections
  • Maintain on-site representation with the customer contact to ensure all expectations are met
  • Facilitate weekly construction progress meetings with the ENGIE project team, customer, design consultants, and all first-tier subcontractors
  • Manage customer requirements for site access and security for Contractor, including but not limited to key card access
  • Develop and maintain daily logs and weekly reports on construction progress for Project Manager
  • Coordinate scheduled shutdowns/outage requests with the customer and applicable utility companies
  • Support the Project Manager with Technical/Commercial oversight Including:
    • Review of Change Requests, Directives
    • Review of monthly payment applications from Contractors and Construction Administrators
  • Lead the punch list process between substantial and final completion; leads the project turnover from construction through commissioning to operations
  • Carry out other duties as assigned

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or in a technical field from an ABET institution or equivalent in demonstrated experience; a background in architecture or engineering is a plus
  • 7+ years of experience in management of construction for commercial or municipal projects with demonstrated success
  • Experience in construction projects, working at sites, managing subcontractors, contracts administration and change management
  • Ability to adhere to the highest safety standards
  • Demonstrated ability to create a team culture of camaraderie, integrity and trust among the integrated project team members and subcontractors
  • Sound knowledge of general construction and renovation practices
  • Proficiency in Construction Management Software (CMS); experience in Procore is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)
  • Advanced understanding of design, construction and operations of commercial renovation projects; experience University capital improvement projects is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings and ensure performance expectations and resultant outcomes are met
  • Exhibits excellent interpersonal skills that include listening to other’s ideas and viewpoints and resolving team conflict situations
  • Mastery of problem-solving and root cause analysis skills

  • Must be available to travel up to 50% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record
  • Most of the time spent in this position will be in the field on job sites:
    • The employee may be exposed to weather conditions year-round, traffic, and noise consistent with working alongside roads (from residential to highway)
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
    • Could involve some lifting / up to 35 lbs

  • Salary Range: $92,395.00 – $236,600.00 USD, annually
  • Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
