Position: The Construction Field Engineer reports to the Project Manager or the Project
Executive as determined by the organizational structure of the project team.
Function: The Construction Field Engineer provides technical and administrative
support to the project team and manages limited scope projects as outlined in the list of
duties and responsibilities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Preparation of project-related correspondence; letter, memo or e-mail
- Consistent follow up with vendors on all project related action items
- Process technical product and shop drawing submittals electronically
- Distribution and tracking of project related technical materials in conjunction with the Project Manager
- Maintenance of all project logs (Change Order, RFI and Submittal) utilizing Word documents and Excel spreadsheets including request for information, proposal request, cost event, project cost reports, etc.
- Assist in tracking and review of change orders
- Assist in tracking and review of RFI’s
- Assist in the coordination and scheduling of meetings
- Assist in the coordination and preparation of weekly project progress reports, i.e., projected cost reports, schedules, and status reports
- Updating contract documents during construction
- Attendance and participation at project meetings. Produce and distribute meeting minutes.
- Process and track vendor invoices and update AP Approval daily.
- Assist in quantity take off and cost estimating
- Develop and update project schedules and work with General Superintendent to develop two week look ahead for Project Team
- Produce closeout manuals
- Management of select limited scope projects
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in technical field of study – Engineering, Construction Management or Business preferred or qualifying work experience
- 0-2 years of experience in Heavy Civil, Water/ Wastewater Construction
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Project)
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat
- Experience in computerized scheduling systems; Microsoft Project, etc. a plus
- Extreme attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work independently
- Excellent communication skills – written and oral; bilingual a plus.
