Job Summary
This Position reports to the Corporate Claims Supervisor – Systems & Support. (Corporate Claims resides in PSEG’s Services Corporation, reporting to the Executive Vice President and General Counsel / Law Department.)
Under the general direction of the Supervisor, position performs a variety of complex and specialized administrative, clerical and operational support assignments for the entire Corporate Claims department including:
Job Responsibilities
- Inputs and updates information on all active, open and closed claim files
- Handles calls from claimants; elicits factual background information, and sets-up case files for assignment and investigation
- Handles initial claim denials, and fends off potential complaints from claimants
- Files cases when no additional handling or assigning is needed
- Handles calls from internal clients and designs claim assignment to the appropriate Corporate Claims Consultant/Specialist
- Handles the set up and assignment of cases in litigation
- Processes all incoming mail and intra-company correspondence and attaches pertinent back up material
- Processes financial transactions (e.g. claim checks) and routes to the appropriate level of management
- Processes billing and invoices
- Prepares file documentation for Intra-Company Arbitration and decides inclusion of appropriate supporting case documentation
- Files closed claim files, maintains supplies, and supports the Corporate Claims Organization with clerical and administrative requests
- Maintains file purge controls and decides file destruction dates
- Provides support to the pole relocation function
- Attends operational meetings and prepares minutes
Job Specific Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Technically proficient in Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Calendar
- Familiar with computer applications
- Must have good typing and/keyboarding skills
- High School graduate or 3 years operational and support experience
- Candidate must foster an inclusive work environment and respect all aspects of diversity
- Successful candidate must demonstrate and value differences in others’ strengths, perspectives, approaches and personal choices
Required Competencies:
- Must have excellent, communication, customer service and telephone skills.
- Must be adaptable and a team player, capable of handling workloads and responsibilities in times of high claim volume
- Must have the ability to handle difficult customers
- Must be able to interact with all levels of staffing within the Corporate Claims Organization
- Must have the ability to process basic transactions
- 6 months to 1 year experience in claims processing or related field (i.e. customer service)
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiar with PSEG departmental and corporate administrative policies, practices and procedures.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of PSE&G operations
- Claims and/or Insurance Industry experience
- Bilingual
