Monday- Friday 10:00am – 8:00pm. Saturday-Sunday 10:00am – 7:30pm

Overview:

Under the general supervision of the Food and Beverage Manager, the Concession Shift Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day food service operations at Centennial Grill and the Riverwalk Café. Major duties include staff supervision, food preparation and service, sanitization, money handling, and responding to customer inquiries.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Provide an exceptional customer service experience for visitors. Maintain a full knowledge of food and beverage items available for purchase.
  2. Train and supervise part time staff. Coach and develop staff on an on-going basis, (i.e., communicate job expectations, provide training opportunities, provide continuous in-service training as necessary. Give input to Food and Beverage Manager on employee performance appraisals.
  3. Oversee daily operations of the facility in the absence of the Food and Beverage Manager.
  4. Work closely and communicate with Food and Beverage Manager to ensure all concession operations are running smoothly, including any computer or to-go issues.
  5. Complete accurate inventory counts and enforce inventory controls including spot checks on product counts. Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment. Report needed items to Food and Beverage Manager.
  6. In the absence of a Concession Attendant, take food and beverage orders from customers through use of the point of sale system as well as to-go orders. Present customer with an accurate bill for their purchase, receive payment, and ensure proper cash and credit card handling. Ensure confidential use of customer information, including credit card transactions.
  7. Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen and to-go areas. Adhere to the Illinois Department of Public Health, DuPage County Health Department, City of Naperville and State of Illinois requirements for food handling. Maintain a proactive approach to safety and risk management, and assist with required health department inspections.
  8. Follow all park district policies related to proper cash handling procedures including balancing cash and preparing appropriate reports (i.e., daily cash statements, receipts, and deposits).
  9. Communicate computer issues to the park district It department, trouble shooting software as needed and inform the Food and Beverage Manager of any issues.
  10. Respond quickly to customer complaints or inquiries and share the comments with the Food and Beverage Manager.
  11. Respond appropriately to emergencies inside the facility and surrounding area.
  12. Maintain safe, clean and friendly environment for guests, co-workers and the general public
  13. Demonstrate and support park district customer service standards.
  14. Follow district and departmental safety, personnel, and administrative policies, procedures and ordinances.
  15. Maintain a proactive approach to safety and risk management. Participate in the creation, implementation and evaluation of sound risk management policies and procedures. Report all accidents and incidents in a timely manner.Follow and model compliance with all District, State, Federal and departmental safety and risk management, personnel, administrative policies and procedures, ordinances and regulations.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in food preparation and the presentation of sale of products.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in food operations, customer service or related field preferred.
  • Experience with different types of tender, credit cards and other point of sale items is preferred.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, Illinois Food Protection Manager Certification within one (1) month of date of hire.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, CPR, AED and First Aid certification within four (4) weeks of date of hire.

Special Considerations:

  • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
  • Exposure to heat from appliances. Exposure to smoke, steam, cleaning chemicals, food and odors.
  • Subject to modified/flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Regularly lift, carry and/or move object(s) weighing < 30 lbs. Lifting assistance is required when lifting ≥ 30 lbs.
  • Ability to perform prolonged lifting, stooping, bending, twisting and climbing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to sustain posture in a standing position for prolonged periods of time.
