Computer Operator I: $17.93 – $22.86 hourly, depending on qualifications

NATURE OF WORK:

PWe are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Traffic Management Center Operator. As a key member of our 24/7 operation, you will be responsible for performing technical work in various phases of traffic management. Your role will involve operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting system consoles and related equipment, ensuring smooth traffic flow and responding promptly to atypical conditions. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of individuals. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation. Ability to work effectively in a 24/7 environment with rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Examples of Duties
Operate, monitor, and maintain system consoles and related equipment within the traffic management center.
Recognize and respond effectively to atypical conditions, taking corrective action as necessary to ensure optimal traffic flow.
Set up and execute job tasks efficiently, including obtaining and reporting traffic incidents and coordinating updates with other agencies.
Handle incoming calls from citizens, technicians, contractors, and others, addressing their concerns, recommending appropriate actions, and escalating issues when needed.
Use probing questions to identify the origin, severity, and nature of problems reported by callers, ensuring accurate prioritization and efficient resolution.
Notify management promptly about any equipment or system malfunctions to minimize disruptions in traffic management operations.
Maintain thorough and organized record-keeping procedures to ensure accurate documentation of incidents, actions taken, and relevant information.
Provide exceptional service and support to citizens during interactions, displaying strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Minimum Requirements
COMPUTER OPERATOR I: High School Graduate or equivalent plus one (1) year of experience in a computer center environment operating computers required; or a combination of education, training, and experience. An Associates Degree with advanced computer, communication and problem solving skills in a multi-tasking environment is highly preferred. Prior experience in traffic management operations, traffic control systems, or a related field is highly desirable. A polygraph may be required. A valid Florida Driver’s License is required.

COMPUTER OPERATOR II: Same as Computer Operator I, above, except requires (2) two years of experience as specified.

VALID DRIVER LICENSE FROM ANY STATE MUST BE PRESENTED AT TIME OF INTERVIEW. VALID FLORIDA DRIVER LICENSE MUST BE PRESENTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE.
