Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Compensation Analyst is responsible for the administration of compensation programs for a university setting. The incumbent will partner with departments to ensure that compensation programs align with the institution’s overall compensation philosophy, market trends, and compliance requirements.

This position has the opportunity of being hybrid (a combination of working from home and the office).

Level Scope:
Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry-level professionals and/or support employees.
Essential Functions:
Refine and manage the university’s employee compensation infrastructure:
• Participate in salary surveys and analyze data from survey sources to determine competitiveness both internally and externally.
• Analyze data and relevant market trends, develop salary structures and market pricing recommendations.
• Develop and maintain salary structures and pay grades that align with market trends and internal equity considerations.
• Prepare ad hoc compensation reports.
• Participate in preparation of the annual merit increase and incentive programs.
• Maintain a database of compensation-related data and trends.

Manage individual compensation actions to ensure alignment with policies, practices, and the university’s overall compensation philosophy and goals:
• Provide guidance to departments on compensation-related matters, including job offers, promotions, and salary increases.
• Evaluate positions to determine classification, exempt and nonexempt and salary of positions.
• Develop and implement compensation policies and procedures that comply with relevant regulations and standards.
• Conduct job analysis to ensure that job descriptions accurately reflect the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Provide quantitative support to the overarching HR strategy for campus:
• Conduct Human Resource analytics, data analysis and interpretation of trends to support proactive planning.
• Manage, analyze, visualize, and report on large personnel data sets.
• Provide statistical and data analysis support to leaders within the Office of Human Resources in furtherance of the department’s strategic goals.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to conduct job analysis, market research, and develop salary structures.
• Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements related to compensation, including FLSA, EEOC, and other federal and state laws.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including HR, management, and employees.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other relevant software programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and 2 years of relevant professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools.
• Experience building data dashboards.
• Experience running statistical analyses.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary range of $69,326.40-$75,000/yr, commensurate with experience.
