Job Description:
The UF Office of Government and Community Relations is recruiting for a Community Relations Specialist to provide high-level support to enhance community relations and outreach efforts on behalf of the University of Florida. The specialist assists in implementing an impactful community engagement strategy, strengthening relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and positions the university as a regional resource. The main responsibilities include overseeing the UF Campaign for Charities (UFCC) by serving as the coordinator and liaison for agencies, campus volunteers, and internal and external partners, managing all campaign logistics, including creating marketing materials, coordinating the kick-off event, and training sessions. There is a significant event management component that includes planning, coordinating, and executing events, campus visits, presentations, and advocacy days. The position also manages communications, including maintaining websites, crafting newsletters, and managing social media platforms. Incumbent will also provide essential administrative support, project management, and assist in resolving constituent and community requests.
Job Description:
- Community Relations Support: Support the Director of Community Relations in implementing community engagement initiatives, fostering connections with stakeholders, and promoting the university as a regional resource. Responsibilities include participating in outreach meetings, attending key events with community leaders and elected officials, and assisting in organizing campus visits for the community.
- UF Campaign for Charities (UFCC): Coordinate the UF Campaign for Charities employee giving program, serving as the point of contact for agencies, campus volunteers, and internal and external partners. Coordinate all campaign activities, including the kick-off event, planning committee meetings, and campaign training sessions.
- Event Coordination and Execution: Plan, coordinate, and execute events that enhance community engagement and stakeholder relations. Develop event objectives, manage all logistics, gather feedback, and develop recommendations for improvement.
- Communications and Marketing: Assist in Government and Community Relations communication efforts, including website maintenance, newsletter creation, event invitations, marketing materials, distribution lists, electronic communication monitoring, social media support, and supervision of communications interns.
- Constituent Outreach and Requests: Respond to constituent requests in coordination with Government and Community Relations team and help position the university as a regional resource through communications and event opportunities.
- Operations and Project Management: Independently conduct general administrative functions and manage special projects.
Expected Salary:
Expected salary range is $75,000 – $85,000. Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience. The University of Florida provides a competitive suite of benefits .
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

- Ability to work effectively with diverse community stakeholders.
- Proficiency in using digital communication tools and social media platforms.

- Experience in event planning and project management.
- Must be able to prioritize, exercise independent judgment, work under pressure and tight timelines.
