JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director Community Engagement, the essential functions of this position are to coordinate initiatives designed to promote the organization and its services to the community. Administers organizational programs aimed at addressing the needs of the County’s diverse communities. The incumbent develops relationships with community organizations and serves as the organization’s liaison with various constituents. May manage staff giveback and volunteerism, community educational and awareness programs, and initiatives that mitigate barriers for our customers. This position seeks exposure through marketing opportunities through enhanced partnerships that connect people to the broader community by creating sponsorship agreements and cultivating relationships with businesses, individuals, and other relevant organizations.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

- Lead events in the absence of the Director
- Developing, executing, and evaluating internal/external outreach strategies ensuring organizational goals, initiatives, and opportunities are equitable and inclusive.
- Documenting and following up on important actions and decisions from meetings.
- Preparing necessary presentation materials for meetings.
- Ensuring project deadlines are met.
- Determining project changes.
- Providing administrative support as needed.
- Undertaking project tasks as required.
- Developing project strategies.
- Ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project.
- Assessing project risks and issues and providing solutions where applicable.

- Chairing and facilitating meetings where appropriate and distributing minutes to all project team members.
- Maintaining a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
- Assisting in the preparation of an annual budget for community outreach activities.
- Nurturing new and old relationships with collaborative partners.
- Scheduling regular outreach exhibitions in the community and educating employees on community responsibility.
- Preparing accurate records and reports regarding the goals of the fundraising plan.
- Overseeing a community partner database.
- Assisting in the organization of special events, including customer and staff appreciation events and other fundraising initiatives.
- Working closely with HR, senior leaders, Training, and Clerk’s Administration to construct outreach strategies that meet the needs of identified communities.
- Participating in strategic planning and development initiatives with the Clerk & Comptroller and executive staff; developing and utilizing organizational analytics and reporting to support critical decisions made in the organization.
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures including laws/policies governing release of public records/information; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
- Performing other duties as needed, including those performed by subordinate and/or clerical staff.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
A Bachelor’s degree and/or three (3) years of recent and relevant experience. Experience in government relations and community relations is highly desired.
Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
An Associate’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Public Administration, Business Management or related field and two years of recent and relevant marketing, communications and/or outreach experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted.
STARTING SALARY: $19.71 hourly/ $41,005 annually
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary and requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects; may also require crouching, manual dexterity, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position will be required to work non-standard hours such as early morning, nights, weekends and holidays. Work is performed in an office environment, outdoors, community centers, local business and other government building with exposure to outdoor weather for travel between office locations or for events.
