Communications Specialist – Contractor

This is a contract position providing services to Nestlé in the USA through a third-party staffing services organization. If you are selected for this role, you will be an employee of a third-party staffing partner and not Nestlé in the USA.

POSITION SUMMARY: Support Purina’s Corporate Public Relations team in promoting our brand to external and internal stakeholders. Key responsibilities for this position include managing various Community Affairs related programming, including our Purina donation baskets, supporting community events and community partner requests. This position will also develop content for internal communications platforms, help plan and execute events for various internal, community and nonprofit partners and support various internal company initiatives.

The approximate hourly pay for this position is $21-23/hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Community Affairs (60%):
• Manage Purina Donation Basket program for St. Louis-based Purina associates
• Manage branded signage, sample and premium orders for community events
• Respond to associate and community partner requests for branded premiums and samples
• Support team with monthly calednars and weekly status documents
• Identify engaged associates: deploy community engagement surveys to identify volunteers, board members and passion areas, keep records and recruit event attendees
• Internal communications: create and manage community affairs editorial calendar, write and publish articles, community spotlights, Feel Good Fridays, monthly floor meeting scripts, etc.
• Support community event sponsorships and associate giving campaigns

Internal Communications Content Creation (25%):
• Help identify engaging stories to share internally and externally (where appropriate)
• Gather information and develop content for internal and external channels (written & video)
• Develop artwork leveraging Photoshop to accompany content
• Edit video content

Event Management (15%):
• Assist the Community Affairs and Internal Communications teams with internal event planning and execution, including logistics and vendor management

  • May be required to attend some events on weekends/evenings

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):

Education
• Recent graduate with degree in Communications or Journalism, or a related field of study.

Experience (Years/Type):
• 0 to 3 years professional experience

Skills:
• Must have experience writing in AP style
• Proficient with Photoshop or InDesign programs
• Interest in Photography
• Event planning experience is a plus
• Ability to multi-task, work within a team, and demonstrate initiative while working independently.
