The Communications Content Specialist will drive the development of compelling content for multi-channel strategies including, but not limited to collateral, mail, video, website, email, social media marketing, and advertising. They will be responsible for creating, improving, and maintaining content to achieve WM’s business goals aligning with the editorial calendar. They also will monitor web traffic and metrics, update company sites and stay abreast of social media trends to identify best practices and ensure compliance. This position is remote, however candidate must reside in Southern California due to business needs.
The ideal candidate will have a background/education in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing & familiarity with social media strategy & management.
I. Job Summary
This entry-level position, under supervision and direct guidance, is responsible for assisting in the drafting and coordinating of compelling content for multi-channel strategies as they connect to both external and internal communication plans. Mentored by more senior level Communications personnel in cultivating internal business and department head relationships and understanding the management of external vendor relationships. Assists assigned internal partners with communication for targeted audiences.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
Under supervision and guidance, engages and assists assigned internal partners (business and department heads) with targeted communications to both internal and external audiences, such as:
- Crafting or overseeing creation of compelling content for digital channels including social media, intranet and internet outlets.
- Providing agency like support for colleagues with the development of customer-focused communications strategies and content.
- Editing content for clarity, style, grammar and providing corporate governance.
Provides assistance to company personnel in preparing speeches, letters and articles which are to be made public.
May assist in the administration and planning of large company events.
May be responsible for creating and supporting internal communications regarding weather related disaster or crisis preparedness and aftermath.
May assist in communications surrounding external crisis events such a work stoppages, weather-related or health-related disasters.

A. Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of relevant work experience in Communication, Journalism or Public Relations.

The salary range for this position is $59,290 – $74,140 per year. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
