The Opportunity
The Client Solutions Architect (CSA), Inclusive Economic Opportunities, primarily supports Abt’s Resilient Economies Portfolio within the Client Engagement and Growth Division, focused on USAID and other US Government clients (eg, MCC, USDFC, USDA, State Department) that invest internationally. As the CSA, you will contribute directly to generating client demand, capturing new business opportunities, securing key contract recompetes, and engaging with delivery teams to ensure client-centric solutions on projects that fully understand and effectively respond to the client’s needs, constraints, objectives, and operating environment.
You will provide broad technical expertise and critical analysis to drive Abt’s growth in the Resilient Economies portfolio. You will apply your USAID and agriculture and economic growth matter knowledge to help Abt tailor responsive solutions while also drawing from across Abt’s capabilities and the repeatable solutions developed and maintained by Abt’s capabilities organization. You will also bring a strong customer perspective in incorporating these solutions into proposals and, upon project award, engage with delivery teams to facilitate responsive delivery of the technical solution in the client’s environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Support portfolio and client account leads in developing growth strategies and plans in the agriculture, livelihoods, economic growth domains.
- Develop and guide Abt’s inclusive approaches to expand entrepreneurial, employment and leadership opportunities for traditionally marginalized groups.
- Supports capture and bidding efforts within the Resilient Economies portfolio.
- Support, and may serve as, the opportunity lead and/or technical lead and/or technical writer for agriculture and economic growth capture and proposal efforts with clients.
- Engage with Resilient Economies portfolio leaders and team members, and with other experts within Abt’s capabilities organization to craft effective, winning solutions that are responsive to the client’s needs and operating realities.
- Regularly disseminate client intelligence and priorities to internal stakeholders to ensure they are developing and executing approaches centered around client priorities.
- Help to craft effective technical approaches that support women, youth and other marginalized groups, building on relevant experience and knowledge in agriculture and economic growth markets.
- Conceive or support efforts to integrate Abt’s equity, digital and monitoring and evaluation approaches and unique capabilities into new business activities.
- Engage with the Delivery organization and the capabilities organization to coordinate and obtain knowledge, expertise, and solutions needed for individual bids.
- Work with Abt’s capabilities organization (i.e., Research Monitoring & Evaluation, Technical Assistance and Implementation, Digital & Data Services, and Equity) and support departments to develop innovative technical approaches, white papers, and targeted communication products related to salient client needs and topics.
- Partner with the Resilient Economies Client Account Directors (CADs), project leads, and others to identify and execute client demand generation efforts.
- Seek, develop, and share information that extends Abt’s knowledge within the Agriculture Markets, Livelihoods and Economic Growth sectors and apply that information to guide development and delivery of concepts, theories and products.
- On newly awarded opportunities, support account and project leadership to transfer the technical vision to the project team and to support the translation of that vision to technical, management, and staffing solutions fit to the client’s operating environment.
- Serve as a technical advisor and/or project quality reviewer on Abt projects.
- Support critical client conversations on projects and captures, to include helping to manage issues, address points of customer dissatisfaction, and gain the customer’s assessment of Abt performance (e.g., “voice of the customer”).
- Models and reinforces Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility throughout the portfolio.
What We Value
- Level 4: Bachelor’s Degree + 9 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + 7 years of relevant experience or Ph.D. + 4 years of relevant experience.
- Level 5: Bachelor’s Degree + 12 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + 10 years of relevant experience or Ph.D. + 8 years of relevant experience
- At least 7 years of professional experience related to international development, focused on agriculture and economic growth projects and policies.
- Significant experience in business development and client relationship management focused on agriculture and economic growth. Proven track record of winning work, including in roles such as Opportunity Lead and/or Technical Lead.
- Experience identifying and defining detailed, inclusive solutions appropriate to agriculture and economic growth opportunities.
- Proven expertise devising and implementing inclusive economic opportunities for women, youth, and other marginalized groups across agriculture, economic growth and employment markets; exhibits ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness in understanding and advancing thought leadership related to inclusive economic development.
- Ability to act independently to uncover issues and propose solutions associated with meeting USAID needs related to inclusive economic opportunity within agriculture markets and developing economies more generally.
- Experience and willingness to work in a highly matrixed environment.
- Strong collaborator with a history of maintaining successful relationships internally and externally.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $120,888 – $222,434.06 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
