The Supreme Court of Ohio is seeking an experienced professional to fill the position of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and Accommodations Specialist within the Offices of Attorney Services and Bar Admissions. The successful candidate will perform professional and administrative functions within both Attorney Services Division offices (Attorney Services and Bar Admissions) regarding the regulation of and admission to the practice of law in Ohio, respectively.
What you will do:
- Independently review applications for accreditation from program sponsors to determine if the content meets the requirements of Rule X and its regulations for continuing legal education activities.
- Assist the Office of Bar Admissions and the Board of Bar Examiners in the review and implementation of testing accommodation applications filed by applicants to take the Ohio bar exam.
- Open and distribute mail as scheduled; answer telephone inquiries from sponsors, judges, attorneys, and the general public.
- Receive and review routine and complex attorney registration and continuing legal education documents and requests. Interpret and apply the Rules for the Government of the Bar of Ohio, regulations, and office policies. Enter information into electronic management systems. Use professional judgment to discern and handle special processing problems and issues.
- Handle sensitive phone calls from attorneys related to their CLE and Attorney Registration compliance and non-compliance with Gov. Bar R. X. and Gov. Bar R. VI. Research errors, complaints, missing information and update records as appropriate.
- Identify existing and potential data problems, investigate question related to CLE accreditation from sponsors; establish new sponsor records; modify existing records; work with programmer to develop new applications pertaining to course records.
- Prepare non-routine correspondence for internal and external audiences, assist in acclimating new staff to requirements of the office.
- Respond to in-person, telephone and written inquiries from attorneys, judges, sponsors, court staff and justices and members of the public related to Attorney Registration, CLE, and other areas administered by the Office of Attorney Services.

Qualifications
What we’re looking for…
- Undergraduate degree in paralegal studies or equivalent education. 3-4 years of experience as a paralegal, office manager or equivalent administrative or customer service position is required.
- Previous experience working for a court, processing or preparing pleadings, and interacting with the public is considered a plus.
- Excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal communication skills as well as written communication skills. Organizational skills and the ability to achieve a pre-determined goal is required.
- The ability to analyze and interpret information and to apply complicated policies and procedures is required.
