CLAIMS SPECIALIST – HYBRID

Summary:

Processes Workers Comp and/or Maritime insurance claims by performing the following duties:

This hybrid position will be a combination of remote and onsite at the Trident Support Center office in Seattle, WA. Our hybrid work environment includes remote on Monday and Friday and in the Support Center on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with injured and ill employees and provide requested assistance, following company policies and procedures and all pertinent regulations
  • Correspond with medical providers and other offices regarding the medical treatment of each claimant
  • Maintain records of all communications with medical providers and injured workers including payments, medical records, wages and maintenance.
  • Process payment of claims for injured and ill employees
  • Transmit routine claims for payment or advises claims supervisor of claim status and if further investigation is indicated
  • Record all claims costs in the claims database

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings

Minimum Requirements

Experience:

  • 2+ years of related experience or training (i.e. claims processing, medical assistance, paralegal, worker’s compensation, P&I, or accounting)
  • High proficiency in Microsoft office
  • Working effectively within a diverse environment while building strong relationships that helps and supports fellow employees in contributing to the overall success of the company
  • Familiarity with claims processing systems is a plus (i.e. Origami)
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus
  • Experience in the seafood industry preferred

Education:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to supervisor and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Mental Activities:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to understand English, and utilize teamwork skills. The employee is frequently required to speak English, and use decision making skills. The employee is occasionally required to use interpersonal, customer service, mentoring, problem analysis, training and supervision skills. The employee will be occasionally required to read and write English, perform basic math, use exercise independent judgment, and use discretion.

This is an Hourly – Non-Exempt position with an hourly rate range of: $28.85-$36/hour
