DESCRIPTION
Under supervision, performs high complexity testing in a full service clinical cytogenetic laboratory; including cell culture, cell harvest, slide preparation and analysis. Proven ability to perform microscopic chromosome analysis, FISH analysis and describe results using appropriate International System for Human Cytogenetic Nomenclature (ISCN). Seeks guidance from management or senior technologist when needed while striving to work independently. Provide high quality results in a timely manner and strives to increase productivity and maintain proficiency. Adheres to all safety policies and participates in the quality assurance program of the laboratory. Performs other related clinical laboratory functions as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree; or equivalent with sufficient science courses to meet credentialing requirement.
- Clinical Cytogeneticist Scientist (CCS) issued by CDPH.
- A minimum of one to three (1 – 3) years of previous experience in an accredited clinical cytogenetics laboratory.
- Knowledge of human chromosomes and cytogenetic techniques; ability to identify chromosomal abnormalities associated with neoplastic or constitutional disorders.
- Demonstrated ability to perform microscopic chromosome analysis, metaphase/interphase FISH.
- Possess the skills, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of duties assigned to the position.
- Knowledgeable in ISCN nomenclature.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in karyotype pre-review.
- HER2 FISH Analysis.
- Three plus (3+) years of experience.
- Technologist in Cytogenetics (CG(ASCP)).

- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $98,199 – $122,085 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $47.03 – $58.47
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
