Job Summary
Responsible for providing tutorial, training, and instructional lab assistance and support to students, instructors, and laboratory personnel in the automotive lab setting.
Essential Functions
Assist students with course and laboratory assignments. Assist the instructor to demonstrate and review material covered in use of lab equipment and materials.

Assist in the preparation and setting up lab equipment and supplies necessary to conduct laboratory assignments. Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained. Troubleshoot and perform routine equipment maintenance and repairs.

Monitor the activities of students and staff to insure a safe learning environment. Provide orientation to students in the use of the laboratory, equipment, and supplies.

Develop and maintain an inventory system for instructional materials, equipment, and tools. Maintain usage records and process material returned.

Issue tools, materials, and equipment to students and instructors. Coordinate distribution and retrieval of classroom and lab resources.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

1. Associate’s Degree or equivalent and two (2) years or related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.

2. Experience troubleshooting and performing routine repair and service on lab equipment.

3. Ability to calibrate specialty equipment used in the automotive laboratory.

4. Effective customer service and communication (both oral and written) skills.

5. Knowledge of automotive software ALLDATA and other automotive internet based software such as Diesel Mechanic software.
