We are accepting applications for a part-time permanent Campground Coordinator 2 within the division of Parks & Watercraft, headquarteredin Auglaize County at Grand Lake St. Mary’s State Park. Working hours will vary between 8:00 am – 9:00 pm daily with position scheduled for 1,600 hours per fiscal year. Scheduled workdays will include nights, split shifts, weekends & holidays. Official Position Description:

Coordinates campground operations; acts as lead worker over campground & volunteers assigned to campground operations (i.e., provides work direction & training ), collects & submits camping fees to manager; performs related office duties (e.g., prepares reports [e.g., checks registers for overages & shortages, balances daily receipts with inventory sold, writes bank deposits, maintains records), assists with campground registration & monitors procedures & assists in budget preparation & managing budget (provides figures for preparation of camp & retail operation budget & oversees expenditures), assists park management (e.g., drafts schedules for manager, trainings, & informs supervisor of personnel-related problems), coordinates & assists with park retail operations under supervision of park management (e.g., contacts vendors for products for resale, inventories retail stock & submits regular profit & loss reports; maintains operation in a neat & orderly appearance); oversees equipment rentals (e.g., kayaks, bikes), coordinates campground information with reservation contractor; operates computer to check campground operations (e.g., campground availability, arrival reports) & process sales; operates cash register & credit card machine to take payments; monitors procedures.

Responds to park visitor inquiries (e.g., answers questions, explains rules, gives directions, makes referrals to management); arbitrate camper disputes &/or problems (e.g., campsite encroachment, pet control, double occupancy); provides first aid (e.g., hands out band-aide, makes 911 calls, gives directions to local hospitals); patrols camp & pool area & splash pad area & shelter house area & beach area & nature center & reports enforcement problems to appropriate personnel (e.g. manger or law enforcement personnel); coordinates special events & programs (e.g., fall campout, boating safety, movies) by arranging for advertisements, materials & supplies, contacts event participants, provides work direction to volunteers & seasonal campground staff.

Oversees & assists in campground area: inspects campgrounds for cleanliness, safety hazards & needed repairs (e.g., buildings, playground equipment, pool area, splash pad area, shelter house area grounds) & reports needed repairs & safety issues to park maintenance staff; performs routine maintenance to structures (e.g., checking restroom supplies, correcting unsanitary conditions); assists custodial staff lead worker with recommendations for cleaning & sanitizing restrooms & shower houses (e.g., coordinate cleaning schedules including changes due to operational need, monitor cleaning supply inventory, requests assistance to correct hazards).

Operates & assists with maintenance of campground vehicles (e.g., golf cards, gators, pickup trucks, automobiles) for safety (e.g., checks fluid levels, makes sure lights are working); assists with emergency park communications (e.g., locates campers, notifies visitors of severe weather); drives from area to area of the park, state, district to perform job duties (e.g., run errands, attend training, meetings).

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Works outside exposed to weather.

Qualifications
Formal education in arithmetic that includes multiplication, division, fractions, decimals & percentages & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary

3 months training or 3 months experience in bookkeeping

3 months training or 3 months experience in first aid techniques

9 months training or 9 months experience in operation & maintenance of park equipment & vehicles

valid driver’s license.

Or equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications noted above.
