NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range

$88,600 – $172,300

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking qualified and experienced Project Manager on the W87-1 Modernization Program to partner with the system engineering teams. Are you passionate about project management? You would join our dynamic and multi-disciplinary team to use your expertise to lead teams and deliver results. You will frequently engage with both internal and external customers and sponsors.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Contribute to and participate in customer meetings
  • Develop and present briefings
  • Define scope according to the customer’s programmatic requirements
  • Assess project risks and opportunities
  • Manage action items and deliverables
  • Analyze and develop reports on cost, schedule and performance
  • Facilitate collaboration and cross-functional integration
  • Develop and lead programmatic processes

This position can also be located in Livermore, CA.

Qualifications We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or other relevant field plus five or more years of experience in Project Management; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • Experience with standard project management practices (and subject matter expertise in some), such as project plan development, integration management, scope management, project scheduling, cost estimation and management, quality assurance, resource management, communications planning and management, risk and opportunity management, and procurement management
  • Proficiency in tools and applications commonly employed in project management activities
  • Active DOE Q-level security clearance or DOD equivalent

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience proposing and implementing programmatic processes and procedures.
  • Experience making risk informed decisions and communicating across project fields.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) and associated systems, configuration management, budgeting, tracking, quality assurance.
  • Ability to achieve PMP certification.
  • Experience with EV tools, such as Cobra, Acumen, Primavera, or Empower.
  • Experience working nuclear weapon programs/projects at the system and component levels.
  • Experience working with the Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration, or the Department of Defense.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects involving substantial resources ($30M/year or greater).
  • Experience in leading successful projects throughout all phases.
  • Demonstrated teaming skills, including the ability to work effectively with other organizations, functions, project sponsors and customers, and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience training and mentoring new team members.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (including presentations) across project controls, business, and science and engineering fields and with management at all levels.
  • Knowledge of management practices, assurance processes, business operations, fiscal and scheduling.

About Our Team

The W87-1 Project Management departments are responsible for providing Project Management expertise to the W87-1 Modification Program system team at Sandia National Laboratories. The departments are also an integral part of the Division 10000 Mission Services, specifically center 10400 Project & Product management for Nuclear Deterrent (ND) Modernization Programs. The ND Programs are responsible for assuring the safety, reliability and security of U.S. nuclear weapons, enabling the defense of our nation through our nuclear strategic deterrent. This team partners with the System Engineering team and provides knowledge of PM methodologies and tools to enable the technical line organizations to perform, oversee, and execute the scope.

Security Clearance

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD). Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
