Position Summary

The Brand and Marketing Director plans, executes, and evaluates marketing communication strategies that advance the organization’s priorities-including health care services, advocacy and public policy, and education-as well as new projects and initiatives. Reporting to department leadership, this position works cross-functionally and collaboratively across all Planned Parenthood of Southern New England departments and is a leader within the CBM department, which manages external and internal communications, audience research, message strategy, brand marketing, media relations, digital, social media, email, web, video, and advertising.

With a creative and dynamic approach to reaching the various target markets of Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE), and our advocacy and political arms, Planned Parenthood Votes! Connecticut (PPV!CT) and Planned Parenthood Votes! Rhode Island (PPV!RI), the Brand and Marketing Director demonstrates a balanced understanding of pushing creative boundaries, while leveraging market research, internal data points, and audience insights, to create informed and out-of-the-box marketing campaigns.

Essential Functions

    • Marketing Strategy Management:
    • Provides technical understanding of how to utilize integrated marketing campaigns to achieve strategic goals. Develops campaigns that tap into the necessary marketing mix of paid, owned and earned channels, in collaboration from key colleagues in mission-based areas of the organization (health care, advocacy and public policy, and education).
    • Develops, implements, and evaluates paid brand awareness and service marketing campaigns, providing modifications as necessary for market saturation.
    • Co-creates digital media strategy and implementation, supervises digital media marketing program, reporting on campaign objectives and audience growth, while providing insight and art direction on digital content creation including graphics, video content, email design, and website content.
    • Ensures organization websites are maintained, optimized, and integrated into the overall digital marketing strategy.
    • Supervises community-based marketing program; collaborates with other organizational stakeholders to set priorities for participation in community events.
    • Design + Visual Identity Management:
    • Ensures visual brand identity consistency and compliance across all platforms. Maintains visual and design standards that reinforce consistency and quality in brand experience within different key audience groups (patients, youth, donors, public, etc.). Monitors appropriate use of PPV!CT and PPV!RI brand identities for organizational compliance.
    • Provides oversight and supports development of design assets and materials that help to influence key audiences and drive impactful messages.
    • Manages customized websites within a content management system (CMS) to ensure brand standards are met and maintained; serves as primary point of contact with CMS partners at Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
    • Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Acts as a member of the communications leadership team to take develop creative, audience-informed, integrated marketing strategies that advance strategic organizational priorities.
    • Manages a collaborative team of marketing specialists, who work together to engage key audiences on all digital communication channels; takes a leadership role in facilitating effective cross-functional collaborations.
    • Participates in key department management activities including annual department planning and marketing budget management.
    • Establishes and maintains relationships with marketing vendors; supervises vendor relationship management and related processes carried out by other members of the CBM team.
    • Manages and develops the marketing team members in driving innovative and strategic campaigns that foster growth and progressive solutions.
    • Advances the organization’s commitment to social justice and helps foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Data + Analytics:
    • Monitors, reports on, and optimizes marketing metrics continuously, to ensure demonstrated impact of communication strategies and shape needs for future initiatives.
    • Synthesizes market research findings to create actionable marketing strategies, segmented by key audiences.
    • Drives social listening, sentiment analysis, and SEO optimization processes; engages department members in research and application of key audience insights
    • Creates and delivers acute event-driven reporting that demonstrates the impact the organization(s) have in the broader messaging landscape.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, advertising, social media management, or relevant concentration.
    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or another relevant field.
    • Experience working in a strategic role, utilizing the balance of creative and analytical thinking.
    • 1-2 years of experience supervising staff, ideally across various focus areas of work.
    • Must have a depth of knowledge about social media marketing, content marketing, and social media management, with specific experience using Sprout Social, Google ads, Google Grants, Meta Business Suite, Snapchat, and TikTok.
    • Excellent eye for detail, with keen understanding of visual brand identity and brand experience.
    • Strong knowledge of graphic design best practices, designing for accessibility, and the importance of informational hierarchy in infographic design.
    • Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, expert level skills in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator.
    • Experience working with CMS systems to manage and maintain customized websites.
    • Proven experience creating integrated marketing communication (IMC) strategies that drive impact and are audience informed.
    • Excellent relationship building skills, including a high level of self-awareness, empathy, and humility in interpersonal interactions.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the role that racial inequity plays in our society and its impact on health care, education, public policy, and advocacy.
    • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and the ways systems of oppression are reinforced through the written word and capitalist advertising.
    • Ability to work and build trust across cultural differences as well as to effectively communicate across differences
    • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, balancing multiple priorities, and demonstrating strong time management skills.
    • Knowledge of the role social media has in responding to crisis situations.
    • Ability to work nimbly, flexibly, and without direct supervision.
    • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekend and evening as required.

$71,981 – $119,969 a year

Salary Range; Min $71,981 Mid $ 95,975 Max $119,969 and is based on full years of experience.
