Summary of Position: Provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service in Western’s Spirit store and offer phone or online assistance to students and staff in an ever-changing, dynamic retail setting.
This non-benefit eligible position would be 20 to 25 hours/week. Typical schedule would be Monday-Friday 12pm-430pm with some flexibility. Hours may increase during registration and orientation periods and during the first two weeks of the semester start date.
Essential Functions
1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required.
2. Perform office function’s which may include, but are not limited to: respond to internal/external customers and staff; create and modify documents, records, and reports using College standard software; maintain hard copy and/or electronic filing system; monitor inventory and budget information; schedule, coordinate, and prepare materials for meetings and/or appointments.
3. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.
4. Student Success is the cornerstone of Western’s culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success.
5. Perform Cashiering Functions – Supporting Action/Task May Include:
- Perform accurate and efficient retail sales activities.
- Operate cash register to process payments via cash or credit card.
- Issue refunds or exchanges as necessary.
6. Customer Service – Supporting Action/Task May Include:
- Provide a high level of customer service by greeting customers, offering assistance, and responding to questions about products and purchases.
- Provide textbook ordering support in person and over the phone using the eCampus online bookstore.
7. Merchandise Display – Supporting Action/Task May Include:
- Create trendy marketing displays and maintain an orderly sales floor.
- Stock and restock shelves.
8. Inventory Functions – Supporting Action/Task May Include:
- Assist in ordering merchandise.
- Creates purchase orders, sets retail prices, and reconcile shipments with original purchases orders.
- Transmit invoices to accounts payable.
- Receive and process merchandise shipments and deliveries.
9. General Cleaning – Supporting Action/Task May Include:
- Maintain a clean and orderly sales floor by organizing, dusting, and straightening of merchandise on shelves.
Qualifications
Minimum Educational Requirements:
- High School Graduate or GED Recipient
Minimum Experience Requirements:
- One-year Retail or Customer Service experience or Computer skills, operate cash register, read emails and type responses. (i.e.: MS Word, Excel, Outlook) OR combination of experience
