Description
The Town is seeking Boathouse Operators to assist with operations at Lake Benson Boathouse. This customer-focused position assists the public with canoe, kayak and jon boat rentals for use on Lake Benson. An ideal candidate would enjoy working with the public in an outdoor setting.
Lake Benson Boathouse is scheduled to be open through October 29 with the following hours of operation:
Fridays 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Saturdays 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, and Sundays 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
Examples of Duties
This position provides customer service support for patrons at Lake Benson Boathouse, including:
- Welcoming visitors and explaining rules and regulations for boat, kayak, and canoe rentals
- Processing paperwork and payments for rentals
- Inspecting and preparing boats and other equipment for use
- Monitoring the Boathouse and lake for the safety and comfort of participants
- Monitoring compliance with boating and fishing regulations and Town of Garner policies
- Opening and/or closing the facility
- Assisting with Town-wide special events as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must be able to safely lift 50 lbs. repeatedly during shift.
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age and be comfortable working independently and occasionally alone.
A high school diploma or equivalent and a valid North Carolina driver’s license with a good driving record are required.
Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire is required.
Familiarity with boating operations and rentals, boating and fishing regulations, and operation of recreational facilities preferred.
This is a weekend position. Must be available to work regularly on Fridays, Saturdays, and/or Sundays throughout the season.
Additional Information
This is a seasonal position scheduled for 6-21 hours per week.
Individual work schedules will vary and may include daytime hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
This position is open until filled and may close at any time.
