Job Summary:
Join the Facilities Management Department on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus as Biomedical Equipment Technician (Electronics Specialist II). This is a full-time state classified position. The purpose of the Biomedical Equipment Technician position is to install, inspect, calibrate, adjust and evaluate the normal and/or malfunctioning components of bio-medical equipment, such as autoclaves, sterilizers, glass washers, ultra-low freezers, ice machines on the Anschutz campus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs work on CM and PM work orders, inspects, calibrates, adjusts and verifies proper mechanical, electrical, steam, pneumatic controls for bio-medical equipment (Examples; medical research sterilization, autoclaves, glass washers, ultra-low freezers, ice machines) for proper operations and safety. Examine, repairs, and/or replaces defective components on sterilizers, autoclaves, glass washers, ultra-low freezers, ice machines and associated equipment. (Examples; steam valves, electrical solenoids, copper lines water piping etc.)
- Responds to Paged out calls, Job Request, CM’s, PM work orders and verbal assignments insuring that tenant/staff requests are attended to in a timely, courteous, efficient manner.
- Responds to emergencies on a 24-hour basis, 7 days a week as required, e.g., related equipment failures, fires, flood, and snow removal.
- Perform preparation and execution of planned utility interruptions and outages by tracing affected systems and making the necessary repair/replacement of system components.
- Provide training and assistance to other employees. Participate as a member of interview teams in new employee hiring process

Anticipated Salary Range:
- The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $4,935 – $5,736 per month
- This position may be eligible for a one-time non base building recruitment bonus of up to $2,000. Details of this recruitment incentive program will be provided during the interview process.
- This position is eligible for overtime compensation
- The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
- The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two years of experience providing maintenance and repairs, on Bio-medical equipment and/or ultra-low freezers (i.e., sterilizers, autoclaves, glasswasher, -20 and -80 freezers).
- Substitution: Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience entering, updating, and modifying information in a database.
- Experience in refrigeration that includes inspecting, replacing, adjusting, and calibrating electronic and refrigeration controls and components.
- Experience in performing mathematical functions to correctly and accurately calculate amounts of refrigerants used.
- Experience in performing preventive maintenance and repairs to HVAC systems and components.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Experience that demonstrates the ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience that demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse background

NOTE: This position has been designated as essential personnel, “Subject to call 24 hours per day, seven days per week” and may be required to carry a pager.
