Position Summary
As the Technical Project Coordinator, you are responsible for ensuring that IT Customer Service projects are well organized and properly resourced, adhering to schedules and budgets, processing purchase requests for supplies and equipment to meet tight deadlines, planning and scheduling meetings, communicating changes, reporting updates to stakeholders, and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.

IT Customer Service at the University at Buffalo provides services and support for central scheduled classroom technology, administrative endpoint support, enterprise IT help center, student printing, Tech Squad (student tech support), video conferencing and course recording.

Essential Duties:

  • You will coordinate and manage multiple small and large projects simultaneously acting as liaison between IT Customer Service, key stakeholders and external vendors.
  • You will consult with technical subject matter experts to help develop and maintain detailed project plans, tasks, milestones, resource and budget needs.
  • You will provide on-site review of capital projects in all stages.
  • Communicate IT Customer Service expectations for project completion and timeline to project personnel.
  • You will prepare progress reports, conduct project meetings, record outcomes and action items.
  • You will identify potential risks or issues, and proactively implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • You will track and control project schedules and associated costs to achieve completion of all projects within allotted time and budget.
  • Process purchase requests, ensuring accuracy, completeness, adherence to procurement policies and guidelines, and identifying opportunities for operational efficiency.
  • Remain on the forefront of project management methodologies and emerging industry practices and technologies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience in project coordination or project management OR a master’s degree with no experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in using project management software and tools to track project progress and manage project documentation
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a higher education environment
