Responsibilities:
– Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for Communications & Digital Strategy, the successful candidate will be responsible for writing, designing, and editing of media guides, brochure information, and press release for 15 intercollegiate sports.
– Write, edit and produce contests for John Jay athletics department website; writing sports event recaps; maintain statistical information for various Bloodhound teams.
– Serving as liaison with the media for various teams; managing various game operations at athletic events
Preferred Qualifications
– Know, understand, and comply with policies of the NCAA, City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC), and John Jay College.
– Write effectively with working knowledge of AP Style.
– Prepare press releases, game notes, and feature articles, and ensure content for assigned sports is maintained and accurate on the athletics’ website.
– Develop and maintain good working relations with staff, coaches and student-athletes
– Thorough knowledge and understanding of terminology and statistics
– Collaborate with the Deputy Athletics Director & Assistant AD for Communications and Digital Strategy to execute creative media strategies, concepts, and trend-setting ideas.
– Extremely organized, self-starter, and intrinsically motivated with strong interpersonal skills.
– Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines and proven ability to multi-task effectively.
Required Skills
- Well-versed in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Premier; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), Genius and Stat Crew software, social media platforms (including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tick Tock, Snapchat)
- Desktop publishing and design/layout skills.
- Familiar with Sidearm Sports and NCAA Content Manager
