We are hiring for a range of titles from Associate to Senior Energy Engineer. The selected candidate will be placed in the appropriate title depending on experience and qualification.
Job Definition
Provides technical support to commercial, industrial and residential customers in the implementation of energy efficiency and distributed energy resource measures for small to large projects/programs which may have relatively few complex features requiring an overall knowledge of commercial, residential and some industrial energy management engineering principles and methods. Leads projects for a wide variety of customer facilities.

Essential Job Functions
Assists in evaluating the cost effectiveness of energy efficiency programs and projects.
Learns, analyzes, and assists in providing basic technical support for commercial, industrial, and residential engineering services related to the design of energy efficient systems.
Assists in interfacing with District departments, vendors and contractors, customers, state, and federal agencies.
Assists in providing basic technical support on energy efficient programs to Planning and Program Management teams.
Assists with the review and evaluation of current standards, procedures, and processes.

Knowledge of basic conservation concepts, practices, measures and programs, and trends in energy demands.
Knowledge of customer service techniques and practices.
Engineering fundamentals, drawings, designing, and modeling.
Fundamentals of economic analysis and evaluation techniques.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, the public, commercial and industrial customers.
Apply to learn and apply conservation concepts, practices, measures and programs, and trends in energy demand and technology innovation.
Ability to effectively carry out the District’s energy efficiency initiatives.
Experience/Education
Associate Energy Efficiency Engineer $80,896 to $101,120 annually
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Assistant Energy Management Engineer $101,476 to $126,845 annually
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field OR the equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Three (3) years related engineering experience.
- Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work of the nature defined for this job level.
Energy Management Engineer $113,653 to $142,067 annually
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Six (6) years related engineering experience, OR four (4) years related energy management experience and a CEM.
- Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work of the nature defined for this job level.
Sr Energy Management Engineer $127,291 to $159,113 annually
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Six (6) years related engineering experience including 2 years in a lead capacity.
- Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work of the nature defined for this job level.
- CEM or current WA State P.E. License
License/Certification
• Valid Washington State Driver License.

Working Conditions
• Duties require lifting various equipment ranging in weight from 5 to 10 pounds.
• Incumbent must be able to climb 10 to 20 feet within a structure or on an outside ladder and must be able to work in confined spaces such as vaults, meter rooms or crawl spaces.
• Incumbent may be exposed to loud noises, hazardous materials, and weather conditions.
• Duties performed in an office environment will require the repetitive use of a computer keyboard and mouse.
• Travel to business meetings is required.
