Associate Product Designer – Costumes

As the Associate Product Designer in our Costumes Division, you will be working closely with our product designers, graphic illustrators, brand, product development, marketing, licensing teams, and partners in creating product specifications from illustrations, fabric, and trim callouts provided. What you will do:

  • Champion great design in our high-quality products and help ensure they are within target cost and QA/QC requirements.
  • Oversee projects through the entire design process…while being innovative, be respectful to balance cost, quality, and schedule.
  • Work collaboratively with designers, illustrators, sculptors, product management, overseas merchandisers, engineering, packaging, licensor, and other internal team partners to create a product that is the best fit for the brand.
  • Be adaptable to shifting priorities and be vigilant to keep your projects moving forward to hit deadlines.
  • Provide detailed Product Specification Sheets incorporating every aspect and component of the design.
  • Provide detailed information and direction to the Sculptors, Illustrators, and Merchandisers.
  • Provide direction and feedback during the development process that is attentive to the Licensor’s needs and wishes to make sure their brand is always well represented and held to the highest standard.
  • Communicate the product specifications to the development teams and keep the communication lines open all the way through to product approvals.
  • Support the overall strategic goals of the product as it lives as an item within a segment of a brand.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in toy design, industrial design, industrial engineering, or industry-relevant field.
  • 0 -2 years of experience in Licensed Apparel, Costume, or Toy Design.
  • 0-2 years of experience working with global manufacturing factories (Asia preferred).
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and Illustrator)
  • Strong, visual-verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of 3D Modeling (Users of Z-Brush / Rhino are a plus)
  • Knowledge of materials and multiple manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of print and the sublimation process.
  • Knowledge of Pattern-making and Garment Construction
  • High engagement with current trends in Pop Culture, Fashion, and Toys.
  • Proactively observes and gains an understanding of the competitive marketplace
  • Have an interest in the licensed properties we develop against and keep up to date with all the content as it is being rolled out.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office & G-Suite

What we offer:

Salary range for this position: $60,000-68,000.00. Actual yearly base pay may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in the role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. The successful candidate may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award.
