NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB:
The associate principal is responsible for assisting the principal in administering the school in a manner consistent with the district’s and principal’s beliefs, philosophy, policies, and directives.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Administers student discipline in a manner consistent with school and district guidelines and beliefs.
- Supervises all non-certified personnel assigned to them in a manner consistent with school and district guidelines and beliefs.
- Supervises all certified personnel in a manner consistent with school and district guidelines and beliefs.
- Provides for accurate record-keeping in all phases of school life requiring accurate records. Such records include but may not be limited to student achievement, finance, attendance of students and staff, supervising records, and records related to maintenance and safety, as well as all records required by local, state, and national law.
- Assists in the development and implementation of curriculum as assigned.
- Assists in the development and implementation of measures designed to insure quality instruction.
- Communicates and functions with all publics (students, parents, staff, community, etc.) in a manner which facilitates the aims and goals of the school, the district, and public education.
- Assists in budget preparation and implementation.
- Insures that written and oral communications with all groups related to school life are timely,accurate, and consistent with what is conventionally understood to be proper English.
- Functions as principal in the absence of the principal.
- Assists in setting, achieving, and assessing goals related to the various school improvement processes.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Conducts follow-up studies.
- Conducts fire, tornado, and crisis drills.
- Services as a liaison to city, county, state, and national agencies.
- Supervises student activities.
- Attends student activities.
- Builds mater schedules.
- Conducts staff meetings.
- Attends district meetings and functions.
- Drafts and updates student and staff handbooks.
- Attends special education meetings.
- Assists in the planning and conduct of ceremonial activities.
- Assists in the preparation of the Educational Plan.
- Assists in the supervision of summer school.

- Bachelor’s Degree.
