The Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver is an interdisciplinary professional school of international studies that prepares students for careers in the public, private and non-profit sectors. Position Summary
The Associate Director for Marketing & Communications is responsible for executing the Korbel School’s marketing and communications strategy, telling the School’s story to prospective and current students, alums, institutional partners, and other stakeholders. This includes communications across all media, including but not limited to the Korbel Schools website, paid media, media relations, internal and external newsletters, and crisis communications.
This position will supervise the Communications Manager and student employees.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with the Assistant Dean for Marketing, Communications, and Student Recruitment on the design and execution of recruitment-based marketing campaigns
- Manage the relationship between the Korbel School and any external marketing and communications consultants and vendors
- Communicate and promote Korbel events
- Develop and execute a social media plan and objectives designed to enhance the School’s visibility
- Act as the primary lead on creating captivating stories, features, and shorter pieces for the School’s website, traditional media, and social media platforms
- Design and deliver a comprehensive internal communications strategy that provides Korbel constituents with a clear understanding of progress toward goals
- Oversee and manage the School website, using the site to achieve strategic marketing and communication goals.
- Oversee branding efforts for the School and its adherence to DU’s Marketing and Communications guidelines, including the usage and development of logos
- Produce a Korbel School annual report
- Produce print and other marketing materials for graduate recruitment
- Advise the deans on communications to various constituencies
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including grammatical, editing, and proofreading abilities
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to build consensus, prioritize and work well with a variety of personalities and with different constituencies
- Ability to strategize and maximize efficiency with limited staff and resources
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
- 5+ years of increasingly responsible professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations, and media relations
- Experience in the design, development, and implementation of educational marketing campaigns.
- Project management experience with sophisticated marketing and communications campaigns
- Experience with online content management
- Experience with digital communications and marketing
- Experience with ad placement and analytics
- Experience working with media outlets and developing relationships with third parties
- Experience working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in marketing, communications, or a related field
- Advanced skills in Drupal CMS platform
- Experience creating and executing a successful strategic communications effort
- Communications/marketing experience in higher education

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 11.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $65,000-$75,000.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting.
