Associate Director, Commerce

Overview:

The Associate Director, Commerce is responsible for helping to lead and manage media investment for Nestle Purina across multiple key retailer channels, including Mass, Grocery, Club, Value, Pure Play & Pet Specialty. S/he provides leadership, strategic direction, and budget recommendations across media supply sources while monitoring adherence to client KPIs. They will lead by example while developing, motivating, and coaching a team comprised of Managers, Senior Associates and Associates. This senior role will participate in the recruitment and selection of junior staff and will ensure all direct reports master the skills and organizational savvy required for advancement. This role will also be critical to developing and managing the team in transitioning to biddable, self-service environments. In partnership with the Director, the Associate Director supervises all media buys and actively partakes in annual strategic planning and activation.

Your Impact:

  • Build strategic media recommendations, audience and channel strategies for Purina’s Commerce investment supporting across all key retail channels
  • Manage day to day team of Managers, Senior Associates & Associates, regularly interfacing with client brand/shopper managers for key deliverables
  • Build optimization strategies to drive incremental ROAS, new to brand percentage and other key performance KPIs
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of client business and competitive landscape
  • Deliver most efficient and effective integrated media plans
  • Lead retailer relationships in collaboration with commerce team and Purina shopper managers/COE
  • Subject matter expert commerce and biddable ecosystems
  • Complete knowledge of current marketplace conditions
  • Serve as a resource for industry data and trends, first looks, innovations, etc.
  • Manage and direct the requests/projects for the group
  • Collaborates with peer-set across Programmatic, Social & Search teams to ensure consistency while informing holistic investment strategies
  • Translate overarching audience strategy to deployable segments per channels managed
  • Ensure that best practices are applied to all channels (including social, programmatic and direct) for brand safety/suitability, optimization, adherence to KPIs and inventory quality
  • Oversee and approve retail partner briefing, plan evaluation and allocations for both annual plan framework, as well as quarterly tactical planning
  • Oversee billing management
  • Partner with analytics team to synthesize holistic insights across retail activations, articulating trends across brands, customers, channels, etc.
  • Ensure buys are accurately set up in MediaOcean/Prisma and are trafficked correctly in partnership with Commerce and operations team
  • Create POVs, best practices, and assist in developing process documents to not just service the client, but to also advance the overall Commerce practice.

People Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with expansive Purina client team, external agency partners,
  • Foster camaraderie within and across investment teams and with all key stakeholders they support
  • Educate team on the investment process
  • Provide guidance to team members and nurture/promote team environment
  • Train employees on tools and best practices
  • Handle issue resolution and recommend process improvements
  • Adept at communicating effectively across all levels
  • Prior experience people managing is a must; demonstrating the ability to nurture junior members of a team and serve as a mentor.

Your Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of retail ecosystems and 1P retail platforms
  • Performance media expertise and 3+ years experience buying and optimizing campaigns to performance KPIs
  • Solid understanding of media buying across all digital channels (video, display, programmatic, search, social, ecommerce, etc)
  • Biddable media expertise (search, social and/or programmatic) is a plus
  • Able to work successfully with teams, handling multiple projects and meeting tight deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to work in a team environment that promotes collaboration
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong analytical abilities and quantitative skills, including math proficiency
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Technical proficiency, particularly with media systems and MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • MediaOcean and MediaTools experience preferred

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $75,000 to $180,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
