Job Summary
This position directs the ongoing development of CenCal’s Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and the timely, accurate production of comprehensive analytic reporting for the business leaders. This individual directs data integration to/from the EDW via third-party channels. He/she is also responsible for the overall definition, planning, organization, and execution of selected strategic projects at CenCal that relate to the sharing and comprehensive use of data internally and externally. This individual directs work plans for team members, contractors, and consultants to develop and execute strategic initiatives. The core responsibility of the Assistant Director Data Analytics is to lead the research, definition, and implementation of new technologies to provide key enterprise business leaders with analytics that help them run their operations better and satisfy the corporate objectives at CenCal Health.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Works closely with management to build and execute upon CenCal’s IT Strategic Plan
- Directs the continued development of the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) as well as those technical enhancements that enhance meaningful reporting and data analytics from the EDW
- Leads strategic data reporting projects for alignment with organizational goals
- Researches and recommends new technical solutions, identifying new opportunities for data quality and data reporting improvements.
- Leads efforts to improve IT development processes and delivery of new analytics to internal and external customers
- Proactively meets with department directors to define business reporting needs and analytical solutions.
- Responsible for providing business leaders with data reporting options for resolving business issues
- Directs the performance improvement and professional development of staff.
- Develops Data Analytics departmental budget
- Responsible for maintaining a high level of morale among staff through the assignment of meaningful work, professional training, and good, communicative leadership
- Works in concert with IT management for integration and implementation of new technologies and processes
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Extensive experience with Medi-Cal/ Medicaid business processes and understanding of DHCS/ DMHC guidelines
- Experience with vendor management, relational databases, and supporting technologies.
- Good organizational skills, as well as a keen understanding of technology development practices
- Superior programming skills and the desire to create technology solutions that are scalable, flexible, and easy to use and deliver exceptional functionality to the business users
- Good understanding of the business reporting needs of healthcare operations
- Business Intelligence tools knowledge
- Understanding of data warehouse designs and best practices
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Oracle, P/L SQL, SQL, COGNOS experience and strong interest in learning new technology platforms and languages i.e., SQL Server, Visual Studio, TFS, .NET, etc.
- Ten years of experience in the healthcare industry and strong familiarity with Medi-Cal business processes and programs
- Fifteen (15) years of hands-on programming experience. Must have superior knowledge of current IT programming paradigms and methodologies
- At least eight years of progressive management of technical staff
- ETL experience is required Informatica is preferred
