Team USA is looking for a resourceful, methodical, and trusted problem solver with exceptional attention to detail who effectively communicates analytical insights with accuracy and clarity. The Associate Data Analyst, Competition Calendar will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and distributing a comprehensive calendar of qualification criteria, competitions, and athlete participation and integrating with departments and processes across the organization. The calendar will be used across the organization to tell compelling athlete stories, track Team USA athletes and performance, and help inform the USOPC’s decision-making around business processes and resource allocation.

In this role, we want a quick learner with broad, general analytics capabilities and interests who can take ownership of a process and continuously improve it.
Here’s how you’ll have an impact:
- Data Acquisition & Integrity
- Utilize web scraping and various other data collection methods to acquire new, valuable competition, qualification, and athlete data for summer and winter Olympic and Paralympic disciplines.
- Aggregate and clean new data sources with accuracy and in compliance with set data standards.
- Develop audit reports and processes for catching and correcting data inconsistencies or inaccuracies.
- Thoroughly document all data solutions and processes to ensure consistent, repeatable, and lasting outputs. Create systems to templatize work products.
- Continuously scan the competition and qualification landscape to update and append pertinent data.
- Data Management & Reporting
- Identify and highlight unique athlete stories that demonstrate moments of greatness and upcoming qualification opportunities.
- Design and create customized visualizations and dashboards with end-user experience in mind and to support organizational data-driven decision-making.
- Create a variety of reports for different stakeholder groups based on their needs, integrating relevant information sets for different populations and timelines.
- Monitor and interpret the data to make insights actionable.
- Education & Continuous Improvement
- Proactively educate end-users on systems, processes, and reporting solutions and implement feedback.
- Streamline existing acquisition and storage processes to create efficiencies.
- Learn and apply hard skills (software, statistics, programming, presentation) as necessary for the project and its integration points.
- Organizational Partnership
- Lead the communication and distribution of the competition calendar to key stakeholder groups (Athlete Services, Olympic and Paralympic Sport, Marketing and Communications, etc.) to enable and enhance their decision-making.
- Integrate with business partners and processes to implement effective data consumption practices. Develop creative solutions based on needs and inform business partners of implications on their work.
- Integrate competition calendar data and processes with USOPC data architecture, partnering with IT team and Manager, Data Operations as appropriate.
- Maintain a strong concentration on customer service, requirements gathering, and issue resolution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Here are the skills and experience you’ll need to be effective:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field or equivalent work experience
- 1-2 years in data management, data visualization, or data analysis

Here’s some more information you need to know:
- Hiring Pay Range: $55,567 – $70,571
- This is a full-time, exempt, position intended to work 40 hours per week.
- Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program at a 10% target. This program is subject to change or elimination by the USOPC at any time at its sole discretion.
