Salary Details:
Payment of $2500 a month for $30,000 annually. Additionally, $3,000 will be provided for Professional Development opportunities and additional resources associated with the position. This position is funded through the NCAA Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant. Grant requirement to hire an intern who identifies as a race, ethnic minority, and/or a woman.

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, an NCAA Division III conference comprised of nine institutions located in Michigan and northern Indiana, is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Commissioner for Championships and Sport Administration. The position is full-time, 24 months, and reports directly to the Commissioner.
Responsibilities: The Assistant Commissioner for Championships and Sport Administration will be actively involved in all aspects of the operation and administration of a 23-sport NCAA Division III conference. The Assistant Commissioner for Championships and Sport Administration will:
• Assist with the planning, management, coordination, and execution of all MIAA Championships.
• Coordinate on all aspects of MIAA championship events with host institutions, including but not limited to preparing host and championship manuals, on-site visits, event signage, awards, merchandise, marketing and branding initiatives, and hospitality.
• Assist with the preparation of coaches’ meetings and conference calls.
• Assist in the day-to-day administration and management of sports sponsored by the MIAA, including but not limited to preparation of sport regulations, oversight of NCAA sport playing rule changes, and processing of schedule game change requests.
• Serve as recording secretary for all conference administrative meetings, including annual for the Committee on Athletics.
• Submit minutes and updated legislation to the Commissioner for approval and distribution to appropriate groups within the conference.
• Update and distribute Conference Policies and Procedures Manual.
• Assist in the preparation and distribution of sports schedules for every conference sport.
• Utilize social media to reach alums of member institutions, family members of current student-athletes, and potential recruits for member institutions.
• Develop sponsorship opportunities for the conference to explore through the commissioner’s office.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in sport management, business, journalism, or other related subjects. Preference will be given to those with experience with event administration, video editing, or marketing. A working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or other desktop publishing, Microsoft Office, cloud-based applications, content management software, video editing, and social media platforms is desirable. Candidate must be able to work selected nights and weekends.
