About This Role:

Kansas State Libraries IT serves a large, diverse department that provides high quality services to strengthen the academic research experience at Kansas State University, the nation’s first land-grant university founded to improve the quality of life of all Kansans through on-campus classes, research and outreach. This position offers the exciting opportunity to work with this seasoned team of IT professionals to expand skills in design, development, and support of specialized academic research library software such as: Python and PHP based applications, Drupal, Omni CMS, DSpace, and other library centric software. Functions include investigating and evaluating user requirements while maintaining accessibility standards, assisting in developing, correcting, and enhancing new customizations for approved open-source projects, and troubleshooting reported issues. Duties assigned to this position can include application requirement review, application development, systems integration projects, system expansion and testing, and database design among other assignments.

Worksite Options:

This position is eligible for hybrid worksite. Work is performed partially remote and partially at Hale Library. This role is expected to work on-site or must have availability to be on campus frequently during the work week.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by the hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Server-side scripting experience (PHP or Python)
  • Software Engineering or closely related programming focused degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to build web applications with the use of client-side technologies (such as HTML5, CSS3 or JavaScript).
  • Demonstrated ability to build using Responsive Web Design.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technology skills.
  • Experience using Drupal or other CMS system
  • Experience with Flask / Django
  • Experience with relational databases (MySQL / PostgreSQL)
  • 2 to 3 years of experience with some or all the following: PHP, Python, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, XML, JSON.
  • Experience using Restful API’s
  • Familiarly with containerized applications (Podman, Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Familiarity with version-control systems, such as Git.

Anticipated Hiring Pay Range:

$46,555-$60,008 annually
