Peraton is searching for a talented Technical Project Manager to become part of Peraton’s Citizens Security & Public Services, Government Services, State of Florida Account. This position will be local to Tallahassee, FL.
What you’ll do:
The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:
Manage an application migration project (COBOL to C# and Mainframe to AWS).
As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the transformation of a customer’s legacy COBOL application to C# and migrating it from a mainframe to the AWS cloud platform. This project is crucial for our customer’s digital transformation and requires a customer-focused approach to ensure their satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute an Agile project plan, including iterations, user stories, and sprint deliverables, while prioritizing customer requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the customer to understand their business needs, gather requirements, and define project success criteria.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, systems engineers, and business stakeholders, to ensure the seamless execution of the migration project.
- Lead the team in analyzing the existing COBOL application code, identifying dependencies, and designing an effective Agile migration strategy.
- Work closely with AWS architects and engineers to define the target infrastructure and plan for a successful migration to AWS, ensuring alignment with customer expectations.
- Manage project risks, issues, and dependencies, applying Agile principles to quickly address challenges and adapt to changing requirements.
- Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and regularly communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans to the customer and stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to Agile methodologies, facilitating daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and ensuring customer involvement throughout the project.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among team members, stakeholders, and vendors involved in the migration project.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to project team members, promoting a customer-focused mindset and a culture of high performance.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience or master’s degree and 8+ years of experience in Computer Science or a related field or a High School Diploma or equivalent and 14+ years of experience
- PMP Certification
- Experience with Agile application migration
- Experience with mainframe system and AWS Cloud services
- In-depth understanding of Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and the ability to apply gile principles to deliver customer value
- Local to Tallahassee, FL. Relocation would be provided.
Desired Qualifications:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional certification
- COBOL or C# programming certifications (depending on the candidate’s background).
- Agile certifications (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster, Agile Certified Practitioner).

Target Salary Range
$104,000 – $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
