General Statement of Duties
Person County Government is now recruiting for a full-time Program Coordinator for Animal Services. The employee in this position coordinates all activities related to development, recruitment, management and retention of shelter programs (Rescue Transfer, Volunteer, Events, Foster). Maintains required records of rescue groups, volunteers, foster participants and provides leadership and direction to large number of staff and volunteers, while promoting animal welfare in an educational and supportive manner to the public. Assists Shelter Manager with animal assessment and determines eligibility for placement into rescue or foster programs.
This is an hourly position working 37.5 hours per week/1950 hours annually.

Minimum Education and Experience
Education and Experience
Two Year Degree in Business Administration, , Marketing, Animal Science or other related field with 2 years related experience and lead or supervisory experience, or combination of education and experience.

- An acceptable general background investigation to include a local and state criminal history, sex offender registry check and valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Certification as a Certified Rabies Vaccinator in the state of North Carolina prior to end of probationary period.
- Certification as Certified Euthanasia Technician in the state of North Carolina prior to end of probationary period. Performing humane euthanasia of an animal(s) may be required.
- Must complete FEMA IS100, IS200, IS700 and IS800 courses by end of probationary period.
- Vaccination for Rabies may be required.
- In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or Emergency Services Director, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to participate in exercises and regular preparedness training and may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different than hired position, work before, during or after an emergency which may include a change in normal or extended work hours or location.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM
Employees may be reimbursed for eligible expenses up to a total of eight hundred dollars ($800) per fiscal year

1.5% salary increase per advanced certification pertaining to the job
