The Ohio Industrial Commission (OIC), Office of Communications, is seeking an experienced team leader with a customer focused background who can embrace daily challenges and demonstrate adaptability while providing direction and leadership to support staff and many different OIC departments. The selected individual must be analytical and have strong and clear communication skills, patience, good listening skills and attention to details.

What You’ll Do:

Under the general direction of the Chief Policy Officer, plans, directs & coordinates all functions & activities (i.e., State of Ohio Charitable activities, etc.) of the Communications Department; establishes goals & objectives & monitors implementation of new policies & procedures regarding the Communications Department in order to respond to agency directives issued by the State of Ohio Governor’s Office;

  • Prepares & updates long & short term goals, plans & objectives for the Communications Department.
  • Supervises assigned staff and conducts appropriate related tasks (i.e., conducts employee performance. evaluations, recommends qualified candidates for hire, promotion, recommends leave requests, discusses disciplinary actions & labor relations matters with Office of Human Resources, etc.).
  • Acts as spokesperson for the Chairperson, Commission Members &/or other Administrative representatives of the Industrial Commission of Ohio and disseminates all publication (e.g., IC, HR brochures, etc.).
  • Coordinates all communication functions & activities within the agency on a statewide bases.
  • Acts as a liaison to state agencies & the public regarding communications issues.
  • Conducts research & special projects; prepares required administrative & confidential reports & projects.
  • Develops for review & implementation of agency policy with respect to public information & public relations functions responsible for staffing; works with appropriate staff & departments regarding budgetary matters, human resources matters, information technology matters, etc.
  • Prepares budget for the department & approves expenditures.

Qualifications
