Pay Range
$132,360 – $164,328 Annually
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

Job Description

We have an opening for an Alarms Systems Administrator with expertise in Windows system administration, network equipment deployment, monitoring, and day-to-day operations. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of servers, software, network hardware and software, and the troubleshooting of complex network infrastructures such as routers, switches and network equipment. You will also provide administrative cyber security management relating to alarms systems. This position is in the Emergency Management Department, Alarms Division.

You will

  • Lead and support a diverse range of highly complex projects requiring in-depth analysis and creative use of innovative methods in System Administration, network mapping and characterization, partnering with senior management and organizations across the Laboratory.
  • Install, manage, troubleshoot, and operationallysupport Active Directory based hardware and software systems such as Windows Servers, SQL Databases, Windows based clients and applications.
  • Perform general IT and administrationtasks such as desktop maintenance, settinguser accounts, roles etc.
  • Perform administrative cyber security management of central alarms system, including managing security plans, completing security assessments, maintaining system scanning and patching levels.
  • Provide highly advanced technical guidance and be a subject matter expertise in network designing, implementation, and maintaining of Alarm systems. Define network requirements and solutions to meet customer needs in support of Alarms systems.
  • Analyze hardware, software, and operational procedural failures, and develop and recommend solutions, and collaborate with alarm event database and software developers in determining long range planning and appropriate project scope and direction.
  • Develop software file storage and system backup routines to maintain, track, and manipulate critical alarm descriptions and locations, and design and develop solutions to explore a variety of approaches within established practices and procedures, and recommend process improvements.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and perform occasional work outside normal business hours to provide support for network operations and maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a computer science or engineering related field, or network certifications with equivalent combination of education and extensive experience.
  • High level technical contributor with technical expertise in alarms systems administration.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of standards governing both TCP/IP and Ethernet.
  • Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure capacity/performance problems and propose solutions.
  • Highly advanced understanding and extensive experience configuring, operating, monitoring, and managing servers, clients, switches and routers or equivalent network equipment.
  • Highly advanced knowledge and significant experience with Active directory management, Windows, and familiar with Microsoft SQL Server administration or any other database administration.
  • Proven ability to independently analyze complex problems and provide solutions that require in-depth analysis in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills necessary to communicate comprehensive knowledge effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and effectively collaborate and lead in a team environment.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience with PowerShell scripting or any other scripting tools.
  • Knowledge of Linux administration.

Site 300

Site 300 is an experimental test site operated by LLNL. Situated on 7,000 acres in rural foothills approximately six miles southwest of downtown Tracy and 15 miles southeast of Livermore, Site 300 hosts approximately 200 employees with expertise in such fields as engineering, chemistry, biology, and environmental restoration. Employees assigned to work at Site 300 may be exposed to the organism that causes San Joaquin Valley Fever (coccidioidomycosis ).

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
