Why does the job exist?

Incumbent in this position will oversee the programmatic aspects of the adoption assistance program and interstate compact on adoption and medical assistance (ICAMA) for the Prevention, Placement and Adoption Resources Bureau. Employee will lead the programs and work with families, providers and internal and external agencies to ensure families and children have access to post-adoptive services to improve the quality of life for children. Employee shall perform and ensure that all assignments and responsibilities are conducted to uphold good use of time via time management, supportive approach that ensues teamwork and sharing job knowledge, self-sufficiency by learning new skills and problem solving vi transferable work skills and responsiveness to supervisors and upper management via effective communication, following directives and self-accountability in the best interest of our internal and external customers. The employee will respect the confidentiality of families and the Department. Employee shall be kind, respectful and responsive in accordance with the State of NM and CYFD policies a d procedures. Incumbent will help create a culture that promotes accountability and support through self -assessment.

How does it get done?
• Manage and Maintain the Adoption Assistance Subsidy program to ensure provision of services are met and in compliance with federal and state policies and procedures. (50%)
• Maintain, update and coordinate the provision of medical benefits and services to children receiving adoption assistance in interstate cases as the States Interstate Compact on Adoption and Medical Assistance (ICAMA) Coordinator. (30%)
• Assist PPAR Bureau and other CYFD Departments with other projects when requested. (20%)

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology and/or Family Studies/Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting: late hours and weekends work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Must have own mode of transportation. Incumbent may be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments.
