Description

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation, Natural and Historical Resources Division, is currently seeking a part-time year-round administrative assistant at the Bladensburg Waterfront Park Facility in Bladensburg, MD.

The Bladensburg Waterfront Park is located on the scenic Anacostia River.

Examples of Important Duties

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills; Answering phones and directing calls; sheduling educational programs, facility rentals, and boat tours;
  • Weekly bank deposits and monthly tracking of revenue and participant/visitation data;
  • Assisting with customer relations and inquiries; Tracking correspondence, responses, and meeting deadlines;
  • Creating credit card purchases, purchase orders; Gathering quotes for supplies and services;
  • Assisting with inventory of concessions and rental equipment;
  • Creating fliers and promotional materials/ program and event marketing;
  • Cash handling and other general administrative duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or a Certificate of General Educational Development (GED).
  • The candidate should possess excellent customer service and communications skills.
  • Administrative experience, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher.

Supplemental Information

  • This is a year-round seasonal/intermittent position that requires between 24-32 hours per week. Hours fluctuate based on seasonal need.
  • This position does not provide benefits.
  • A criminal background investigation will be completed prior to hire.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This job requires weekend work, occasional evening shifts, and holidays. Work will be primarily indoors, though as it is a park, occasional outdoor work may be necessary.

Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees

Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.

If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.

Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
