SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the CFO, the Director of Accounting is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for Fahrney-Keedy Senior Living Community and the management of the accounting team. Other duties may be assigned.
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY:
As the Director of Accounting, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
EMPLOYMENT AT WILL:
Employment with Fahrney-Keedy is “at will”. Either the associate or Fahrney-Keedy may terminate the employment relationship for any reason at any time without notice, regardless of the length of employment or the granting of benefits of any kind, including but not limited to benefits which provide for vesting based on length of service.
CONFIDENTILITY:
Fahrney-Keedy associates recognize that Fahrney-Keedy has and will have information regarding financial, personal and medical affairs and other vital information (collectively, “information”) which are valuable, special and unique assets of Fahrney-Keedy. Associates agree that they will not at any time or in any manner solicit, collect or divulge any Information to any third party without the prior written consent of Fahrney-Keedy. JOB FUNCTION:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee and direct, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Resident Fund Accounts, Medicare, Medicaid, and other administrative functions of the Finance Department.
Complete monthly general ledger entries and collect supporting documentation as needed by CFO.
Maintains records of financial transactions in accordance with established procedures.
Reconcile payroll entries for accuracy. Processing employee direct deposit/checks (payroll) and making all tax and vendor payments related to payroll.
Completes all tax and other reporting to federal and state authorities as required by law.
Reviews financial documents of prospective admissions and determines if appropriate based on Fahrney-Keedy guidelines.
Works with CFO to ensure modifications to fee schedules are communicated annually or as needed.
Assist CFO with month end close and reporting.
Perform the reconciliation of all of the organization’s bank and investment accounts.
Performs internet banking functions.
Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
Carry out the supervisory responsibilities of the Finance Team in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Establish positive working relationships with banks and other financial institutions.
Comply with HIPPA regulations and maintain confidentiality of residents, families, designees, agencies, Fahrney-Keedy’s records, etc.
Track and manage medicare/managed care denials resulting from monthly billing to ensure all processes are followed to minimize potential for write offs.
Perform and meet Supervisory expectations, to include: Timecards, Performance Appraisals etc.

RESIDENT RIGHTS:
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
- Ensure that you treat all residents fairly with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy.
- Knock and wait for permission to enter all residents’ rooms.
- Report all grievances and complaints made by the residents to the Nursing Supervisor or Charge Nurse.
- Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property to the Fahrney-Keedy Abuse Coordinator.
- Honor the resident’s refusal of treatment request. Report such requests to your Supervisor.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
- Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of team work and team concept.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.

- Must be knowledgeable in the use of computers, data input/retrieval/output functions, etc.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business.
- Five to Ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience using Matrix LPC preferred, but not necessary.
- Experience in a medical billing office preferred, but not necessary

- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, staff, and support agencies.
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination.
- Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.
- Must not have a weight-lifting restriction. Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry a minimum distance of 50 feet.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
