Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Academic Programs & Project Coordinator, Senior, facilitates work focused on student success, in collaboration with units across divisions of the university.
Department Overview:
Through an expansion of workforce development and use-inspired research, the Institute for Microelectronics Education and Research (MER) will help tech industries solve modern challenges and lead innovation in microelectronics. MER has been created to enable engagement in a wide range of opportunities across the campus. Boise State University’s interdisciplinary approach brings together engineering, science, education, and business. The Institute will provide a central location for university researchers and educators to pursue relevant funding and to engage with industry, state, and federal agencies in microelectronics and will also serve as a central point of contact for external organizations to engage with the university, provide input on their needs, and gain access to students in desired disciplines. It will provide the mechanism to align university resources with the needs of industry and government agencies for the greatest impact.
Level Scope:
Recognized subject matter expert who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field with limited oversight from managers. Independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; requires deep job knowledge of areas typically obtained through higher education combined with experience. Manages large projects or processes and problems faced are difficult and often complex; analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy. Influences others regarding policies, practices and procedures.
Essential Functions:
60% of time the Academic Programs & Projects Coordinator must:

  • Manage and oversee processes related to the development and ongoing revisions of academic related initiatives.
  • Contribute to institutional change related to student success by supporting continuous improvement action planning, assessment, and modifications.
  • Conduct research and summarize data to inform decision making, evaluate program effectiveness or alternatives, and to inform program development.
  • Coordinate integration of projects and track workflow to monitor progress.
  • Monitor student data dashboards and compile reports related to student success.
  • Establish timelines and communications with appropriate academic units and coordinate logistics.
  • Review and resolve complex issues and concerns related to student academic-related issues.

35% of time the Academic Programs & Projects Coordinator must:

  • Develop and manage special project assignments as requested by the Institute Director.
  • Contribute to the development of quality metrics by utilizing established project standards and procedures.
  • Create, maintain, develop and continually update project plans and schedules.
  • Decision making authority to approve budgetary actions and commit department resources and determine appropriate action related to the implementation of the Institute strategic plan.
  • Collaboratively lead talent/strength mapping with leadership and utilize workforce data and analytics to drive change and inform decisions
  • Represent the institute on project strategies, communication plans that support established goals and initiatives
  • Support project teams both internal and external, communicating individual roles and project expectations. Ensure a channel for clear communication between managers and employees, play a role in resolving conflict and issues.
  • Independently responds on behalf of the Institute Director to operational or service issues and concerns working closely with leadership.

5% of time the Academic Programs & Projects Coordinator must:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent plus 5 years experience.
Salary and Benefits:
$57,200.00 – $71,489.60 annually.
